Default kosmik post crash loose tab

Hi guys,

I put my e7 with a kosmik 160 in pretty hard recently. The esc still functions normally, tho i havnt reassembled yet or attempted to fly it. My concern is that the tab that connects to the negative battery lead is ever so slightly loose now. i can move it left and right just barely. it seems like its probably bolted on the inside of the controller. Tab is slightly bent, and It also shows a small burn like there was a slight arc between the tab and...idk what...maybe the esc case. Im tempted to take the top off the controller, tighten the tab and straighten it back out, and go fly. what do you think? Can i take the kosmik apart and tighten it out or should i avoid that and send it in?

thanks,

Blair

Well.. You can do it if you know what you're doing.

The cover plate has to be removed. The PCB with power FETs is bolted to the back of this plate.

No need to remove the PCB from the plate, don't do it.

It would be a good idea to use some contact grease. Kontronik did not.

There're spacers used. Do not over tighten. It is about the distance of the FETs from the aluminum plate. The thin layer of anodizing is not a sufficient insulation.

Regarding the warranty. Guess this would void it.

On the other hand it should be possible to tighten the tabs from outside.

Well..I don't want to void my warranty, and kontronik USA suggests there could possibly be internal damage....so I guess it's off to Germany. Bummer, but good thing I've got other Helis to fly

Send it to KonUSA and take advantage of the Power Up program.
They will send you a loaner Kosmik until yours returns.
There is a thread about it somewhere in this forum, or just contact them.

Did you try and tighten from the bolts on the cover before you sent it ? I'm just curious if that actually works
