Kontronik Jive ESC Mode & Governor Setup
Oh ok. I have the ar7200bx aswell if you're absolutely sure the esc is programmed right, the problem lies in your tx i think. Try inhibiting the governor menu in the tx and just run throttle curves. That should work... Do you have idle up assigned to the correct switch?

Also, it is possible the ESC was programmed in APM (Mode 1) only (not Heli Mode 4 as I was thinking). Must it be programmed in Mode 1 then Mode 4 (or Mode 5)? Or is it OK to leave it just programmed in Mode 1?

Replying to your last questions...no, not sure the ESC is programmed right (see my most recent post before this one). I did try setting Governor to Inhibit on the DX8 to just use the throttle curves. Yes they are set for each flight mode. No difference. I think it is the ESC programming.

Kontronik Jive ESC Mode & Governor Setup
I'm not all that familiar with the helijive, but i'd program it to mode 4, to be sure. By power of deduction, if everything else is right, it must be the esc.
Allthough i find it strange it doesn't react to different throttle curves.. Sent from my iPad mini using Tapatalk HD

OK, much appreciated. As soon as I can do so I will report back (may not be until tomorrow....or much longer if I cannot find the jumper for the ESC).

Kontronik Jive ESC Mode & Governor Setup
Do you have the jumper out of the esc? You have to have it plugged in while flying. that could be causing problems. I checked the helijive manual real quick and from what i understand you have to program it to mode4 (or 5, wichever you prefer).

Correct, it is not on the ESC. I read that it is not necessary for flight. Just a convenient place to store it. But I will put it back on there once I find it (and reprogram it).

after reading through all your posts it is entirely in your radio. when you use govenor mode on these esc's your headspeed is affected by the throttle curve. you need to have 3 throttle curves:
normal: 55% ID1 60% ID2 65% note these are all flat lines. the govenor menu in your radio is for nitro ONLY. mode 4 takes the throttle percentages and uses them to calculate headpseed referencing the following post is how the headspeed is calcualted (https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=480502). you do not want to go over 65% throttle. if you are not at a high enough head speed then you need to change your gearing.

OK thanks. I fixed the setting in the transmitter as noted. I am trying to reprogram the ESC. I have a jumper that seems to fit just fine but I believe it is a bind plug for the AR7200 BeastX. It does fit perfectly into the ESC but will this work? I tried to program it per the manual but once I pull out the plug no beeps happen. Sequence is: Inserted plug into ESC (the Jumper slot on the motor wires side, just to be clear), turned on Tx and Rx, plugged ESC into main battery, removed plug (just after beeps for motor connection finished, easily within the stated 10sec maximum), then nothing...no beep sequence to confirm programming mode. Is the jumper therefore specific to the ESC? If so I have to order one.

Without words.
This is a normal computer jumper. Do you get in any shop if you ask what time it is. And how about crimping/soldering a JR plug?

Thanks. Understood. Think I damaged the ESC (i.e., would I need to replace it)? Anyway to tell? It fires up normally. Clearly I will now get the proper jumper and then program.

Do you have a JLog? If JLog's LEDs burn then there is nothing damaged. If you have the BEC voltage on the jumper port or not (Burned PTCs?) does not matter anyway except for easy power supplying of JLog. I don't think so that you've burned the PTC resistors. They are there to do just that for which they are intended.: To limit the output current to 100mA. No fear! No problems. Get/build the right jumper and everything will be fine.

Thanks. Just ordered a jumper. I will not be able to reprogram it until the week after next. I will report the results then. Assuming all will be fixed.
I do not have a JLog.

you can always use your bind plug just pop one of the pins out and put it in the center and plug it in so that it shorts the correct 2 pins.

Thanks, I will try it tonight (already modified the bind plug...simple).

Re: Kontronik Jive ESC Mode & Governor Setup
I'm super noob with my jive but. Doesn't he need to have linear throttle curve when setting mode 1-4 ??

Tried programming the ESC with my modified jumper as directed. I get through step 7 per the HeliJive programming manual but then cannot finish. I insert the jumper, turn on the Tx and Rx, plug in the main battery (to the ESC), wait for the ESC to initialize (takes about 5 seconds), pull out the jumper (before the 10sec max), get the descending 3 beep tone confirming it is in programming mode, then the sequence of mode tones begins. So far so good. The problem is then once I reach a mode and want to lock it in, when I move the throttle stick all the way to full positive, it is not recognized. The ESC keeps cyclying through the modes (1 beep, then 2 beeps, then 3, then 4...all the way to 9 beeps). I cannot stop it at the desired mode. Any ideas?
Thanks, -Kevin

Also, just to fully explain my setup, I have a separate 2S LiPo battery powering the AR7200 BeastX. Running HV Futaba servos. From the ESC I have only one (what the manual calls a BEC) cable going from the Master port on the ESC to the Throttle input on the BeastX. And the red cable is cut. Is this correct? Assuming so since the heli powers up and flies fine (except for my issue of not being able to change the motor RPM using flight modes). Should the other BEC cable be connected to the Slave port on the ESC then into a remaining BeastX port (manual says any open port)? Assuming not.

you need to have a 0-100 normal throttle curve for programming. dont use the flat curves that i told you earlier for programming.

That was it, thanks. I was able to program first to Mode 1 then to Mode 4. Then I reset the Normal throttle curve to flat 50% (with IU1 at 60% and IU2 at 65%). Will spool it up tomorrow to test. Much appreciated.
