Any one try 345/350 blades on their stock Beam e4?
I've seen that some guys have used 350 blades on their stock Align pro heli's, wondering if any one has tryed it on a Beam? The stock Beam blades I have are 335mm.

Steve,
I am currently using the stock blades also. What would be the effect of using longer blades? Mark

They are stretched 450's. Stock would result in a midair collision with yourself! Mains hitting tails.

Some guys had stretched 450 pros and others where using stock booms. The 450 pro thread I was referring to was with stock booms and the blades do overlap. They have videos of them flying pretty hard without blade strike and even with Dfc heads.I haven't wanted to try myself unless someone else was successful, and I am running a Dfc head so it does look close.

I stretched my Beam with a tarot boom and a 515t belt and run 360 blades with no problems.Using a 11t pinion with a Tarot 1860kv motor on 6s and headspeed of 2800.
Love the combo and it still balances cg with 1300 6s battery. Steve |

my used one came to me that way
350 Curtis YB, no blade strikes in over 30 flights, it did fly bigger and seemed less twitchy.
Too bad I had to run a 3 rd batt today with no canopy, lost orientaion and plowed it in . Those One of the blades os thrashed, also need the usual feather, mast, brg, tail fin, yada yada.

Oh Yeah Baby (apologies to Mike Myers)
I'll *hopefully* be updating this thread myself shortly.
JUST ordered 350mm Spinblades for the original/stock BEAM E4. Your story...up until the "plowed" part, is very encouraging. Flying Bigger and less Twitchy? Oh yeah...somebody's callin my name ! Sorry to hear about the " blades os thrashed, also need the usual feather, mast, brg, tail fin, yada yada." part....but if you've become the super mechanic I've become (due to NUMEROUS crashes)...you'll be up and running in within an hour or two of your start of repairs. |
