This is exactly why I was surprised to see a pilot put a different brand of blades on a brand new Logo700. I honestly wonder if they even flew it once with the VTX.

I had rail blades on my Logo 700 for the first handful of flights...$120 vs $160 in crash costs in case something went wrong. I have a nice curse with new helis to destroy them within 20 flights.

I couldn't resist not having VTX on there after getting comfortable with the machine, then I had to learn to fly it again!

Bill.
So, you're saying you designed these blades specifically for Hemp

Hey, you pay for the whole thing. Waste of money if you just use the middle bits.

I've done the same thing on my first flight with a new heli. Starting out with blades I have collecting dust for the maiden is just hedging my bets in case I goofed somewhere.

As much as many of us have numerous builds under our belts, we are not infallible and things can and do happen once in a while.

I made my first flight with Rails as well, mostly because my pitch gauge fits them and don't fit the VTX.

I have to admit that my blade holders don't fit them particularly well either, but I would hate for them to compromise their design just to fit my existing blade holders

I keep wondering if Mikado will make some new and wider blade holders.

Seems like an apt accessory.

Can we all assume that the LOGO 700 comes with blade holders that fit the VTX properly ?

We're working VTX-specific blade holders as we speak... its a legitimate need.
The Logo700 kit supplied holders do work, but are a snug fit on the VTX 697/717 blades.

Take a utility knife and cut the slot a little bigger.
It will still work with other blades.

Yep, works fine with my Rail Blade holder. Still love my rails but feels kinda odd not having a nice VTX holder to show off with the blades.

Default VTX Blade Production Timeline

Production status on VTX main blades, as of late September 2016:

477's are in production now. First production lots should be available (hopefully) within 8 weeks; maybe sooner - so lets say by end of November.

557 pre-production prototypes are under construction and are expected by end of October. They must then undergo flight test which typically takes a couple months, followed by production ramp-up and first lot delivery. Probably looking at 1Q17.

607 is still in engineering, but not much left to do. Once its done, Ryan will model it up and then we will have more tweaking. But I expect all that to be finished by end of October.

Tail Blades: I'm still right in the middle of this project. The 105mm is the starter for this effort. Of course, there will be many sizes - and I don't have the list of them yet. Lots left to do - still do not have planform nailed down, and the airfoils are in jello. My *hope* is to get preliminary planforms in hand by mid-October.

Bill.

When are we going to get VTX blades in Europe???? In the UK, it seems the only way to get them at the moment is to buy a Logo 700 kit

Seems like a perfectly reasonably way to get a really nice set of blades to me?

I am sorry but cannot answer that question in this thread, which is really limited to discussing the technical and flying quality aspects of VTX blades. I will see if our company officers might be able to comment with more information - its just not my area to speak on.

Several German shops list them, including Mikado. I am not informed about the current stock situation though.
