I think its kinda funny that the most elite high end ESC money can buy is the only one on the market that hasnt figured out how to make an external governor work.

Wow I did not know that! Had a read through google and it seems it's true, guess that's why people like Hobbywing ESCs so much. Anyway I'm not at that point yet, let's wait and see what the speed up tail pinion does first But thanks for the info

It might work fine for you with the speed up tail. A lot of guys run that setup and are happy with it. 👍

Hey guys. Received the 12t motor pinion and tested it out last weekend. all i can say is between the tail and the main motor pinion changes this guy is one bad heli and is locked in. Thanks for all the great help here and it has really changed the way this guy flys. Im a proud owner now and am enjoying putting this through the paces.

Ok well I thought I had it sorted! I'm still getting a 20-30deg kick in punchouts when the wind is blowing from West side of the heli. That is, when the wind is hardest against the tail and acting with the torque of the heli. This is obviously as hard as it gets for the heli in terms of climbouts but I want it perfect, my X7 can do it albeit with less power available.

I Tried everything in Vbar, usually I Gain sorts this but I put it way up with no difference. Is there something I can perhaps do in the Kosmik with like Gov Precomp or lowering the gov gain? I am unfamiliar with the Kosmik tuning parameters but I have a Prog Unit and am keen to try!

Only other thing I can think of is upping the headspeed but I'm already at 1950!

Edit: I should admit, the tail holds in every other situation I've tried. Flying in strong winds doing backwards hurricanes and it's fine. Just this specific situation of a sudden, collective mashing climbout.

One more thought - with the pinion I have I'm running the Kosmik at 80% which I'm aware is the max they recommend. Perhaps I should go up a pinion so I can lower this and give the gov more headroom which may help in some way??

Glad you got things fixed. I read your other thread. I think a lot of people skip over a simple step that has helped me out tons, and that's to get the heli into a hover and switch to rate mode. If the tail moves, you need to adjust the control rod link till it doesn't move or moves very slowly.

Ahh yes, this is effectively a way of physically getting the "2-3 deg pitch at neutral" exactly right for the torque of your heli. How do you put a Vbar in rate mode? I wasn't aware that you could actually do that beyond the days of flybarred gyros with HH and Rate modes!

I can't help you with a VControl. I run Futaba. (I can't really tell you on Futaba either, cause it's been so long since I've done it). I use the switch right behind the switch I use to go from normal, to IU1 and IU2.

Vbar? Or vcontrol? With vbar you have to toggle a setting in the advanced tail parameters. This means that you should setup bank switching and have a bank with rate mode enabled. Or if you think you're close and comfortable with a loose tail, just turn on rate mode, lift and hover... You'll know right away as the tail will immediately drift one way or another.
