Default batteries/flight pack question

So what batteries are you guys running? I just slid 2 5200mah packs from my 550 into my new build,I have to say she feels a little heavy!

I was going to order 5000mah packs but now I'm looking at 4500's... not sure if there will be much weight difference though?!

Also, what about c rating? I guess with series packs you may be able to get away with a slightly lower rating?

If anyone has any input/advice I would be interested to hear...

Rx is any size you want to but i would run 2000 to 2400mah and 25c is fine. You dont need a very high c rating. Bigger last more flights betwern charges on Rx bat. 4400 on mainbat will give you a much lighter bird and close flight time to a bigger heavier 5000+ battery. Less weight means less power usage. 45c is sufficient especially good lipos like Gensace. If i used 65c id go with 4400mahs. Mainly depends on how you fly. Heavier batteries will damage your bird more in a crash.

For 5000mah packs, anything 30c and over is going to be fine for most people. For that size of pack, it's a sustained discharge rate of 150amps, which is some way clear of what the other components are using.

Yes if you do hardcore smack/live somewhere really hot etc etc, a higher c rating would be nice to have, but for most people it's fine.

did you get the Turnigy 5000mAh 6S 35C packs?
I use them, they fit well and fly great.

It gets hot where I am too, if you mount your ESC up front I recommend cutting a vent hole in your canopy for airflow over the ESC. It helps mine a lot. I can post pics if you want.

Have you checked the ir of the packs on your charger? I got some zippys the first go around and the ir is horrible, all cells between 12-17 each. Running gens ace 30c now with 0-1 ir per and plan to use the 45c when I get my 700 but would like to have a cheaper option that is a decent pack for just goofing off

I've been flying the Spyder batteries from Progressive RC and love them. Great packs with true 30C rating and the weight is good, but with a powerful heli like this one, weight is not a huge issue, IMHO!

I have both, the one continues 12S 5300mAh pack and the individual 2x6S 5300mAh packs. Both fit perfectly. I have charged them at max output of 30A from the charger without any problems. Friend of mine has flown on his Avant Aurora 700E the same packs for two and a half seasons and the packs still pull stumps.

Great price too.

No, I got TY-max packs... from a local supplier, They are 5200mah. I use the same ones on my 550 and have over 60 flights per pack.

Yeah... sure, it would be great if you could post some pictures. I did the first couple of set up flights today and the ESC came down hot, and that was with no canopy on.
