Any overall preference on main blades? I was wanting to run the Rail 696's, but how are they compared to say a 710?

So far I've tried BBT INSANE 693, Edge 693 (FB blades), BBT MANIAC 703, Radix 710 FB and preference by far for my sport/aspiring 3d flying is definitely 700+mm blades because of the lift & speed they give.

check out MR. Mel's HS calc.. he should have the Shape on there... cause I don't remember what mine is.. off the top of my head.
Find the manual, cause there a way to set up the main blades, and tail so they do not hit each other... But, forget how it was done now... but check the manual... That is about the only thing... Good luck, Joe_Breezy And, if you didn't know.. freakware is carrying spares now... just go to their site, and order what you need... if it is not listed, they will get it, or make it... (I think)

I have flying the maniac 703s & they fly great for the price but lately I've been trying the insane 690s and they are also good budget blades. The maverick wide chord 690s are very very nice poppy blades. (sport mild 3D)

Any recommendations on set up or tips? I got mine second hand also and am about to finish equipping it and get it out for a first flight.

The elevator servo is a pain to install...
Sorry.. not really a tip... I remember it as pretty much a straight forward build... Don't really remember any problems... I've remember being told to order the motor pinion from Freakware, it installs in the tail boom brace. I think you'll see it in the manual, but not included in kits... at least not the one I got. Good luck, Joe_Breezy

It's good to see someone still playing with this machine. I had one of the first ones and loved flying it. It's a shame it's so much of a pain to get parts for it. Make sure you clock the main and tail blades per the manual. Also check that the tail boom is inserted all the way. The manual provides a measurement for this.

If they don't have a counter-bearing with this kit yet still, don't buy it. Unless you plan to only do light sport flying. My whole machine was totalled because of this. I'll never buy Shape again. It was fast as hell tho...

Yup, got the tail clocked, even though I'm running 696's. I didn't see anything in the manual about the boom. I believe that I've got in all the way, but I'll double check that. Counter bearing where? I only do sport and light 3D, but curious.

Take the time to carefully check main gear to pinion clearance and set it as per manual; a mistake here will result in a gear failure. I would go as far as to say check the gear regularly until your sure it is running clean.....
As F1 Rocket mentioned parts are a bit of a pain to get seeing as they need to come from Germany. Dont hesistate to PM if you have any questions..... |

Well, per the manual, I know it says the mesh needs to be fairly tight, so I have it set with just a very slight backlash. Sound about right?
