Default Who's got MS Flight Simulator X?

I've tried everything for 2 days now and FSX gold edition will NOT install in Windows 7. Does anyone have a way to solve this issue?
2 disks, almost an hour, and at the VERY END of disc 2 I get Error 1603 or 1722. The computer is brand new and so is this version of Flight Simulator. FS 2002 installed just fine and so did the demo download version of FSX Gold.

Try this:

1) Uninstall the FSX demo. You don't want any old files corrupting the fresh install.

2) DON'T INSTALL IN THE DEFAULT LOCATION (Program files/Microsoft/games/etc.) You will have a major league PITA with Administrator Rights everytime you try to change, update, or add/remove files. Use the root directory - "C:FSX". Trust me - this will solve 90% of your problems.

3) Run a complete defrag overnight before you install FSX. The cleaner the drive, the faster data collection occurs, and you won't have any of those tiny pauses.

4) Once you install FSX, don't install Accelleration right away. Play the sim first, then check for any Microsoft updates (SP1 is a definite must have: You'll see that FSX runs like mud until after SP1 is installed: That's the upgrade that allows multicore usage). SP2 is part of Accelleration, so you don't need to download it). Once SP1 is installed and you've flown it, THEN install Accelleration

5) Fly.

Also, you can now invest in a TrackIR infrared device that follows your head movements. I bought mine years ago since I fly virtual cockpit 100% of the time, and if you have Phoenix, version 4 lets you use it in the 3D sites as well. Once you use it you'll never touch the hat switch again.

Hope this helps.

Jake

Thanks for your advice. I've also gotten X-Plane 10 and after some tweaks it's running beautifully.
I'll take your suggestions and try a reinstall of of MS sim.
Thank you very much.
