Finless Bob's HeliFreak Flight Challenge #3
Guys and Girls,
Here's Finless' third Flight Challenge! The goals for this flight challenge are identical to the first one, only this time do it all INVERTED! Remember, this is all in the spirit of having fun. There will be no prizes, no voting or judging, but in the end we'll all be winners for having participated and improved in our flying. It's these basic flying skills that will make us safer pilots, as well as open doors to advanced 3D maneuvers. This challenge is definitely geared toward the CP heli, and will likely require a 3D setup. Like before, it doesn't matter if the heli is large or small, electric or nitro, flybar or flybarless. We just want to see you doing it. Please don't get too carried away with your videos; try to limit your flight/footage to what is spelled out in the challenge. Always keep safety in mind. Quote:
Here's my submission to kick things off. There's definitely room for improvement as you'll see if you watch the video. C'mon now, I know there are pilots out there who can do this challenge better than I did............let's see those videos!!! Here are links to the first two challenges: Flight Challenge #1 Flight Challenge #2 The fourth challenge will come soon!!

Cool. I'll have to see if I can hold anything more than nose-in inverted long enough to submit. But I'll definitely be doing it at more altitude than you did.

Now that I think about it, make sure everyone stays within their comfort zone on this. I was on the verge of mine for all but nose-in. There are definitely guys that can do this lower, but that doesn't mean others can't do it a bit higher. Do it at the altitude you feel comfortable with. Remember, safety first.

I'm out.
Just beginning with inverted and it's possible to do 20 sec. nose-in inverted. (Two mistakes high.) I love to do the full negative inverted climb outs. But that's it for now with the skids pointing up. Good luck all.

Excellent video Bob. Great control. These types of exercises certainly bring up the orientations that needs the most work. For you that would be tail in. Thanks for starting the new challenge thread! I'll post up a vid soon

Are you saying my side-in was okay? I actually felt less comfortable side-in, although my tail-in does need work.

Actually watching the video your side in's were bad a$$. You may have felt uncomfortable but it didn't show. Side in's (imho) are the hardest inverted orientations to get used to. The most nerve wracking anyways.

Well I do not know what you call a pro? But I agree. I have local guys that can piro flip and do all kinds of stuff but.... "I can tell".... they are sketchy on some orientations! When I ask them to do challenge 1 or 2, they wont do it. I have yet to get some of my locals, that many would consider a "pro", to actually do the challenge! Go figure?
Point is, be careful what you consider a pro... A monkey can learn the piro flip given enough time. The real question is, "do they have the basics down"? Simulators allow learned moves to happen FAR before the basics are learned. The point of the noob challenges I started is to:
