130 X Gyro Gain Menu

Hi Guys,

Now that the 130 X is shipping now, we want to share our little secret about the gyro adjust ability.

This was not in the manual because it not required to fly the helicopter, we feel out the box the helicopter flies great for the consumer. However some of the consumers want this ability to tinker and play with it.

Below is the instructions on how to access and use the Gyro menu program in the 130 X.

3-Axis Gyro Menu

To Enter Programming Mode
1. TX on throttle set to high (100%)
2. Plug the flight battery into the helicopter.
3. The Status LED will go solid blue, then there will be a sequence of Red, Green, and Blue Flashing LED’s
4. The RED LED will now be solid and the status LED will be flashing.

To change between axis use the Elevator stick.
Red LED = Elevator
Green LED = Aileron
Blue LED = Rudder

To change the gain value use the Aileron stick
There are ten steps available in either direction, total of 20 gain values for each axis.
The highest and lowest values are not high enough or low enough to cause not to be flyable. It adjusts the gain in a window we determined was useful to the consumer.

Right Aileron increases the gain, the LED lights will start flashing faster.
Left Aileron decreases the gain, the LED lights will start flashing slower.

When the Axis LED is solid that is default value (neutral gain).

To reset the settings to default
Hold right rudder for 5 seconds while in programming mode, there will be a sequence of Red, Green and Blue flashing LED’s to signify the default settings have been applied.
Rudder value must be at 100% travel for this to occur.

To exit the menu.
Simply just unplug the battery. Set the throttle to low throttle or throttle hold and re-plug in the battery.

Sweet, thank you James. And +1 to this. Flying great out of the box is awesome. But also being able to accommodate the people that want to tweak, modify, hop-up, etc, is fantastic.

You make the take-it-out-and-fly-it consumer happy, because it just works. And you really make the tweakers happy, by letting them adjust it to their flying style.

Nice work! I'm very interested to read the reports of how it flies!

If u look at the msr/120sr crowd,
The msr was still VERY strong after the release of the (including the mod crowd)

TNT is gonna be the first to try it and show us a video of how he made a carrot pizza with his 130x and serve it with a pizza slice scooper attached to the skids that Dylan made, while drinking margaritas.

Hello James and 130X pilots,

Thanks for the info on setting gyro gains. I tried a couple test hovers indoors this evening, but I initially found that the tail was acting like the gyro gain was too high, not being very smooth, shaking mainly side to side, also some up and down. Also when spooling up from soft start, the tail goes through a nasty vibration, looks like the tail blades are way out of track, until the head speed is stabilized.

This was with stock settings for hovering, idle up was worse. I lowered the gyro gain, although not sure if it's as low as it goes. This helped smooth the tail vibration some, although it's still not very smooth, still some side to side vibration, and up and down.

I played with the main blade tightness, and tail blade tightness in blade holders, as they sure were on the super loose side. I just took some of the excessive play out in the blade holders, but the blades can still pivot freely.

All gears seem to turn freely, just hoping I can get this heli to smooth out in a hover.

How smooth should the tail be? My MCPX was very smooth, no vibration.

That is right, we wanted to wait! And let ALL the mcpX owners know. That they have been shafted on gyro adjust.

Brian, I know someone w/ a bad bearing in their tail pitch slider and it caused erratic tail behavior. jave you checked this bearing?
