Default 550 blades on 550 V2

Hello,

I just noticed that the main blades that I have laying around are 550 blades instead of 520 blades ( the ones that are now on my bird) . Just to be save to run these or would I need a longer tail boom and thus would it be a simple swap with the 550 DFC tail boom ?

Or do I need other parts ?

If you run 550s on a 550 boom there are a couple issues. First you will need 86mm tail blades for clearance. You can run 90s but just barely and under aggressive maneuvers people have had blade strikes. I run 550s with the 86mm tails.

This in turn causes a couple issues. First the rotational torque of the larger main blades is a bit much for the 86 tails with mod .8 gearing. You will need the 40T front drive gear to get the tail spinning to compensate for this - the 4.5 ratio tail.

You may also have to up your gain to give the tail better authority as well.

OR

You can get a 600 boom and torque tube and run any tail blade size you want. You will also need the 600 pushrod.

The 600 boom is probably a more effective method but I've been running it with the 550 boom and enjoying it.

I run 90mm tail blades and 550 main blades and the rotor doesn't come anywhere near the tail. It would be a totally different story with a DFC head though.

I have been running my V2 for over two years with 550 blades and 95 tails, I don't fly smack though. Big air speed and smooth 3D...
