Wow, they were on sale for $1 each!

I ordered a bunch in yellow and red! Shouldn't ever need a tail fin again for this heli!

Default Elevator servo for 480

@ KX: MKS elevator servo does not have the servo arm centered within the 480 frame if you install it to the frame as is. You will need to use shims, I used 3 x 1.2mm carbon shims I made myself to "move" the servo more into the frame so that the servo arm aligns with the swashplate elevator ball link.

It was a very obvious misalignment that perhaps the Savox mini servos do not have, but with the MKS, if you install it as the manual suggests it will be 4mm off the center axis of the frame.

Unfortunately the Savox servos have the exact same problem. There are no standoffs for the elevator servo... It's just part of the design. The vbar will compensate for the geometry issue.

Default MKS and JR elevator servos misalignment

All though flybarless unit may compensate, I see this as a major head geometry pitfall that is best to be addressed during build up, as the elevator link rod from servo arm to swashplate elevator link ball is far from being vertical and parallel to the main shaft.

Honestly, I was very surprised for Mikado not being able to catch this in the manual and provide the correct servo carbon plate to bring the servo spline to the center of the heli axis of symmetry, especially when they sell the MKS servos as part of the combo.

Carbon shim plate coming with the MKS tail servo would do, but you would need 3 of them and it would be quite expensive to order them through MKS.

It's frustrating and annoying when u see it on the heli... However I'm convinced it doesn't make any practical difference in the air.

Well, I am nearly done with the 480. trying to get the wiring all buttoned up.

I had a quick question though. Is anyone running Rail 80.6 tail blades with the stock Edge mains? They seem like they will fit. I intend to run fairly low headspeeds and think this may be good on the tail.

I had some on mine until a crash took them out. I was very happy with them.

They should work great, however, even the stock edge 72's are excellent at low HS.

The Tail on the 480 is outstanding, it's the best of all my machines. Even at 2100 or so RPM i can do tail down funnels and never loose the tail with the stock 72's.

My kit came with Fun Key 76mm tail blades. I might use them for the maiden and test spool ups, but I would like to use the Rails most of the time. I had them laying around, might as well use them.

It's ALIVE!!!

Finally finished putting this thing together and got in a test hover in the back yard. Seems pretty solid so far. No major surprises on the maiden pack. Hopefully I will get a chance to really fly it tomorrow.

Thanks man! I got 6 flights on it yesterday! This heli is a great flier. I was flying in 15mph wind and it was right at home. It does get pushed around some because it is light, but it was still very enjoyable. It was really too windy to do a very good job at tuning. I will have to wait for a calmer day for that.

I can forsee the possibility that this logo 480 could become my favorite heli. After I get it dialed in a bit. That said, I am having some canopy fit issues. Once I get that sorted, and I will because it is minor, I'm probably going to be flying it a lot!

I don't know exactly what it weighs. My little scale only goes up to 2kg. Maybe I can weigh the heli and battery separately. I'll let you know. I think it's a little over 2kg.

I also flew my warp today! I'm glad I ended up not selling it. I did just put an ikon in it this morning though. The warp is a damn fine heli.

Hey Rob!
Nice to know you're enjoying your 480

So it seems that to have a nice wind-resistance on windier days, it would need heavier packs?
Maybe that's why smackier pilots stick a 4000 in it.

And yeah, the Warp is a keeper, haven't seen a better 360 heli yet. Changed both belts on mine this week, after two crashes and a few mishaps, and almost 3000 flights. It's a heli that has that kind of smoothness to go along with a mikado, oxy, all smooth machines.

happy flying

My canopy was tricky at first, I found that hanging the front of the heli over an edge while installing the canopy realy helped. That way you can flip the canopy from nose down verticle to horizontal as it fits over the body. Most people get a stress crack somewhere in the middle as you have to bend it out to get it on, just beef up that spot from the inside with a layer or two or epoxy and fabric and that probelm goes away.

Very nice KX! I had some issues with the canopy at first but found you how to align the bottom first then bring the top side on. Make sure the underside lines up with the skids properly then fold it back to the top and it should go on nice and smooth. Took me a few tries to figure it out but now it goes on easy
