well it seems that Align made there own part to their own specs and its not an FE423. It is annoying that Align does not sell the sprag by itself. When I switched to KDE hub, I also bought a new Align hub just to get a new sprag. It was annoying at the time but its water under the bridge now. There was probably nothing wrong with the one I ad but I wanted to start with a new parts.

If it's Align's part that is custom (i.e. not a true FE423) then RCBearings shouldn't market their part as compatible, when it isn't.

On a side, note here is what my original sprag looked like after about 1000 flights. They do eventually wear out.

Had a chance to do an idle test today (700N) in my backyard. First time since swapping out the RC bearings unit for the Align unit. Happy to report that all issues are now gone. KDE hub. Glad thats over.

yeap we tend to believe its the sprague since the housing sleeve seems solid when we test buy hand, but when the heli is loaded in the air it does slip. I dont know why it has been impossible for align to "clone" the kde housing.

I'm not convinced that a sprag is really necessary, lots of 700 sized helis use a roller ramp bearing without issues. The Gartt/Assualt 700 hub also seems to work fine long term with a roller ramp one way bearing instead of a sprag (costs about $12).

Is the Garrt/Assault 700 hub interchangeable with the 700e?

Don't know for the Gartt, but for the Assault :
Yes, as in you can use it instead of the others.

No, it is not the same in design and construction in any way. It is of one-piece construction with the bearing pressed in and not serviceable. Bearing slips, throw away and buy new one.

Just as a follow up, RCBearings issued a refund for the bearing. They also acknowledged that the 700e hub, being a bit smaller the the Gaui or Alees hub, might contribute to the slipping.

It is servicable you just need an arbor press and a heat gun.

I don't like throwing out perfectly good parts because a bearing wore out. I'm pretty sure that Gartt uses an HF1616 (16x22x16)

$5 from RC Bearings.

Or this place in china that charges less than $4 for a pair with free shipping.

Or you could go the other way and use a high quality bearing. Synergy uses an HF1616 instead of a sprag in their 700's, they sell replacements for $16.

if it were me I wouldnt bother. You would save 4 bucks only and having to do the job to replace the bearing is no fun, but thats me.
