Default DJI BEC, Yes or No??

In the process of installing the Naza-H and I'm wondering is it really worth it to install the DJI BEC? Will the BEC on the CC ESC work?

Dreading having to rip apart my existing setup and solder on the power leads etc..

JMHO here..
Do you really want to add the extra hardware and electrical load and hope that your ESC can handle it?

Either / Or I'm using the Naza Bec..... If you use the Naza Bec then make sure to disconnect the red power lead from the throttle lead off the CC esc... or you will be supplying power from 2 sources..

Did that from the start. Pulled the red wire and heat shrink it.

I'm looking at the specs.
DJI:
5A continuous
15A surge
5.8v

CC Talon 90 ESC:
9A continuous
20A surge (0.5 seconds)
6v

One less piece of equipment to mount, connect and rely on.
Just sayin...

Naza-H is in and configured. Ready to test fly.

Naza BEC is on the way, maybe tomorrow.

5A vs 9A...I'd probably stick with the CC Bec.

I think I should clarify my post....

First thing....
I never use an ESCs internal BEC to run any electronics for a few reasons.
1) Added work load for the ESC
2) Added heat generated by using the internal BEC
3) Current limitation of an internal BEC
4) Inability to power up the electronics without having to power up the motor.

My method of choice is to wire in either a Hercules or CC BECPRO on a switch to either a 6S main battery or separate Rx pack.

This allows for....
1) Higher available current for your electronics ( HV servos if used, along with any added hardware )
2) The ability to power up just your electronics and keep the ESC and motor in a "safe" mode during setup and any needed tuning
3) In the event of an ESC failure during flight, you still retain your Rx and servos.

The question of if the DJI BEC has enough ponies to handle the load will depend on what hardware your flying.

IMHO.....
550 with a HV setup and
600 class and above, I would seriously consider a higher current output BEC.

I'll throw my .02 in here also. On bigger stuff using full size servos, I have a separate BEC. Reason being was watching a RX go brownout on the bench with a Hercules 5A BEC and DS610's (610's are current hogs). Then I was thinking about some of the overrating (cough, CC, cough) from some of the manufacturers in the past. Thinking of an overgrown flying lawnmower having a mind of its own...yeah, I'll stick with a solid separate BEC with a healthy overhead.

Should your esc lose its marbles and decide to run battery voltage direct to ground and catch fire...it might be helpful to have some radio control there also for a possible landing possibly minimizing damages
