Of course the hitch is, Jim, the word "amateur", which I guess precludes glying commercial AP missions using an amateur radio licence. Is this correct?

Tony,

'Tis true I'm afraid. Good point, being a true amateur in everything I do I totally forgot that part! Yes, technically you are not supposed to gain from the use of your 'amateur' license. The laws were relaxed some years back permitting you to order pizza over a repeater phone patch for instance. In this case YOU weren't profiting the pizza shop was and that was OK.

Since I fly on the 6 meter ham band the same would apply to that part of it too. Would be very difficult to enforce I guess...

Jim

I have both, sitting on my bench. Unfortunately the heli I plan to use with this (Logo 10) has been converted to a flybar-less head and I am still waiting on my AP2000i to do the mixing for the flybar-less conversion.

best place to get government grade RX/TX stuff (even in the 900Mhz range) is from Chas at:

http://www.eyespyvideo.com/

he is the guy who supplies stuff for National Geographic and Lockheed Martin and so many more. i have a pretty powerful 900Mhz downlink on my Pro 1. check them out. also - check out their 'Testimonials' page to see who they do business for. top notch stuff.

I've got a cheap 1.2ghz system and it works perfectly with the Spektrum. I'm not sure about legality issues though. It's only a 50mw system but it works fine for me. I'm just playing with the system for fun. So far there has been no glitching with the heli at all.

I just ordered a 1.2ghz system from dogcam in UK. Will let you guys know how it works, although it should be fine with the spektrum. came out to a little over $100 shipped for a 800mw tx.

The guys at dogcam were nice enough to quickly cancel my order. I should have researched more before buying
I guess i'll go with a 900mhz system from rangevideo.
