Thinking about getting a horizon Champ rtf. I'm in learning mode. Would this be a good plane to start with and also to flyy around the yard?

The Champ is a fun little airplane that flys quite well right out of the box. It won't handle much wind, so keep that in mind. Replacement parts are pretty cheap too and you probably already know, Horizon is great for support.

champ is a great little plane to learn on. only 3 channels but it flies pretty good and is basically indestructible over grass.

I have a lot of fun flying mine in a good amount of wind, it gets blown around a lot but is fun to try to keep in the air!

I still fly mine often when I am out with the guys. nothing like having 5 champs in the air all trying to hit each other, haha!

Thanks, I'll probably get one for home and a bigger trainer for the field

How do you land in the grass, won't the landing gear catch the grass and flip it ?

yea probably, but its not going to hurt it. I usually just catch mine out of the air or let if flop down into the grass.
