Default Walkera V120D02S videos

So now that I have tried the Genius CP, Walkera asked me if I would have a look at their new heli the V120D02S. Its a slightly larger heli than the Genius so this should be interesting how it matches up with the durability of it smaller cousins. I am skeptical with it having a TT tail drive but we shall find out soon

First up is whats in the box and general overview of the heli and radio.

VIDEO -> V120D02S - What's in the box! (43 Megs)

I am going to be away for a week so I wont be able to do anymore vids until I return so it will be a week before I get to setup and fly it.

Enjoy,
Bob

Guys, Walkera contacted me and said they were making some change and will be sending me a new one. I asked what the change was and the person I am working with said they did not know but the replacement wont be ready until later this week.

So I am waiting for the new one and hopefully will find out what the important change was all about.

Well shoot. Came back today to see the new updates and have to wait longer! Ahh well, I'll go back and watch the Genius vid again. That little heli looks like a ton of fun and its tempting me already but this one could be even better....

Or the Rondo. They have a Walkera edition that the stock servos plug straight into...

It will hopefullly fix the servo delay shown in this vid

If it does I might actually get it over the genius because of the dd tail.

Me too. I am longing for Bob's review. I think maybe Walkera are changing the product design from CP, by making more durable in the crash. Because the strong competitor Eflite launch the MCP X. Otherwise Walkera would lost the market share in the micro/mini heli field. They response more actively on consumers feeling now. In Chinese Forum, most walkera owners complain the following:
1) immature products with defect, without sufficient test.
2)indurable crash design, especially in feather shaft, main shaft, landing kids
3)problems with servo, with creep

Are you sure that "delay" is an issue? Full size FBL units behave in a similar way when sitting on the bench. In my experience, that looks completely normal. Spin up the rotor on the Genius and do the same test holding it in your hand.

I asked what the delay was about and Sheila from Walkera did not know exactly. However I have flown mine several times now and after doing some adjustments to the pots and radio, it flew pretty well for me. It has some odd quirks in it's flight characteristics but was expected for a small heli. I have been completely happy with mine so far. Crashed it a few times too and no damage yet (I am good with the hold switch ). First crash I expected the main shaft to be bent but 3 crashes later and it's still not bent!

Yes gyro's work differently on the bench as they EXPECT the heli to move when you give stick input. So this behavior in the video could be expected on the bench. Not all gyro software works the same! This is why there are sooooooo many posts asking the same questions over and over about setting up a simple tail gyro. So while I could be wrong here, this may not be the issue they are working on. I wish I knew what it was but again, the person I work with did not know.

Glad to know you are flying some walkeras, Bob.

maybe now some people stop making jokes about the walkera helicopters.

I hope someday you fly a v450d01 and show your impression about this heli. So far I did not find a flybarless heli more stable for the same price range.

It's ridiculous how some people can be extremely prejudiced about something that does not have knowledge.

Cheerz!

I think the small heli market is due to explode with FBL being that latest tech. Walkera seems to be making some good progress. I will know better as I fly them. BUT they have come a long way. I remember about 4 years ago flying one and going "What a POS". So things are changing and for the better in my mind

I still do not like ready to fly stuff as I think users need to learn how to rebuild and fix ready to fly setups. So even with what Walkera has me testing the same holds true. Ready to fly was NOT the best setup. But that is fine I NEVER expect them to. Know what your doing and learn how to setup and THEN these, "what use to be called toys" do pretty damn well!

The only reason that i think that it could be an issue is that the sample that dkfuji on Rcgroups has couldnt do continuous hard 3d when Manny flew it.
