Nice! Hey, I bought the same tail servo, but that is not an HV servo. You can't feed it straight 2S lipo voltage... I'm going with a LiFe 1400 unregulated pack with a step down for the tail.

My setup:

OS 37 / Hatori pipe
DS510 x 4 (cyclic and throttle)
MKS 8910A+ with step down to be safe on the tail
Full size silver vbar with 5.3 Pro
SwitchGlo pro
Align 500 Orange skids
Align 500 boom supports
Edge 425s and 72mm tails
QuickUK header tank
Align RPM sensor
Align starter

@caralmar
Ah yeah good point. I forgot about that.
I did order a Western Robotics Titan regulator for the tail ( should be here this week ) - hopefully that will work on the tail.

http://www.western-robotics.com/titan_STDR_hp.html

I got the Yellow Align starter that you suggested to me in another post that I also forgot to mention.

BTW: Is this the correct governor sensor ? Align Governor Sensor HE50H22

Gawl, what do you plan on using to power the electronics? Also, I think JC said that the motor is too small for a backplate sensor, so that's why I got the Align sensor with the magnets for the bell.

I think your right, I believe he will be at the Abilene event next weekend and I plan to ask him there. If not, I'll run the align sensor with magnets.

As for powering it all, will be off 2s unregulated life. I was going to do a step down for the tail but 6.6 should be fine.

Yeah, I just sent MKS an email asking them about this. I think 6.6 should be fine as well, but never hurts to get confirmation, especially on such a pricey mini servo. Are you going to get the kit with blades or just the barebones one? I'm thinking of just getting the barebones one and stick my Edge blades on there... I didn't much like the stock Gaui blades for my X5 when I had it.

I liked the Gaui blades for the x5 so going with kit and blades. I'll grab some edges at some point since I like to always keep a spare set of mains on hand for each heli. I'm positive that the 6.6 should be fine, hell I'm running my align throttle servo that's only rated for 6v on my N5c off 2s lipo at 7.4v. However that servo isn't under the load that a tail or cyclic servo is.

I just got off the phone with a nice guy from MKS support. He does not like the use of the unregulated pack to the MKS servo. He says that the servo is rated for up to 6v. The LiFe pack, when fully charged, will be 7+ volts. So, he says to use a regulator and step down the voltage to the servo somewhere between 5.5 and 6 volts. Also, strongly recommended the use of a linear regulator, and not a switching one, and reminded me to set the 760 pulse width on the flybarless controller before plugging in the servo.

I will heed all the warnings!

I thought life fully charged was only 6.6 volts? Hmm in that case might need to look into a regulator.

It's over 7 volts when fully charged, but for a very brief time...It quickly drops to 6.6v and stays there for the majority of capacity.

The Futaba CGY750 displays incoming voltage and I've never seen it over 6.6v on my LiFe packs..even with a freshly charged pack.

I've been hunting around for something "simple" and lightweight to put in between the battery and the vbar so that everything runs at 6V, regardless of the pack voltage. I think I may have found something.... what do you think?

No one has any thoughts on this regulator??? Itching to buy it, but I'm hoping someone here knows something about it!

Purchased servos yesterday and Brain last week. Only need a pushglow, life pack and a regulator and I'm set. Quick question on servos, I purchased a set of mks' for the cyclic and tail, but for my throttle servo I have an Align 520 sitting around not being used. Would that be ok to run for a throttle servo?

Got mine ordered today

I've been flying nitro since nitro was cool and something really excites me about a mini nitro....

Anyway the setup will be - -

OS37 - Sent to Magnum for their centerglide, ported by me
Revolution muffler (hey it was cheap and came with the motor)
DS515 for cyclic/throttle
BLS257 for tail
SK540 (figured I'd give it a try since it's the only one I haven't tried yet)
Probably a life pack
