Default What is the weight of your Trex 500?

Hey Guys,

I want to compare the weight of my TRex 500 with others as i added some stuff on it.
I hope i didn't add too much weight and made it a pig

My all up weight is 2081g. This includes a 2650mAh lipo pack.(Pack weight is 459,7g)

Cheers!

I have 500 esp w/Tarot FBL head on and 3Gx-2sats - 1420 grams

that's no lipo and no cano.......

Stock canopy is additional 62grams.

So that pretty much puts a stock 500 efl /belt tail w/2600mah just under 2000 grams...

That puts you about 150gram heavier than mine - that's pretty significant - 1/3 pound.
If you flying sport - no big deal - but if your throwing it around - you will definitely feel the extra weight.

-

Edit: My 500's are bare minimal and belted tail - put bright orange duct tape from wally world on lipos -so fly without cano.......that gets me close to half pound under yours......

Found out from my 450x's that every gram you can shave add to more over all agility to the model - makes for alot more fun throwing around. But flying sport the added weight makes it more stable but slower flying....slower response.....

My canopy is 181g , it has quick release mounts.

My flying with the 500 is a mix of sport flying and smooth 3D, Sometimes i like to throw it around.

Currently I can't weigh it because of it's dirt nap from last week. I should have it back up and flying within a week or so to weigh it. Everything is stock other than my bk tail servo and the efl head. I fly 2600's and it doesn't feel one bit heavy.

Think your reading too much into this - after recalculating - its maybe 80g difference - you always want to get model light as fessably possible.

Little more weight - just means little more powerful motor - or couple extra % in throttle.

Some models are just lightweights in their class - - trex 500, compass 6HV, 7HV, trex 700 dfc, 700x are very popular cause they're almost half step size lighter than avg in that size.

Too light is bad too - stretched a 550 into a 600 - flys like crap - too floaty.....just annoying...
Gonna have to stick in a HKIII motor - 8s lipos- and heavier Rx pack to bring disk loading back up....
-

Easy to see what the lower weight can do for you - just fly few flights without cano - and maybe lower mah lipos - couple 3S 2200mah 450 lipos instead of the 2600 6s

Another strategy is go with 430 or 435mm blades -

-

I'm always interested in 500 / 550 weights - Hope more post their weights - and strategies....

I had to increase the rpm from the governor. Little heavier, feels a bit more locked in.

Comparing the weight with a 2650 pack, my heli is 180grams heavier.
This weight gain comes from a telemetry sensor, CC bec Pro and Scorpion backup.

3000rpm, with what motor, a 1600kv one?

For that speed, the Scorpion 1400kv comes in my mind. Sweet motor that is
