I got bored and modded my IRNet controller... with an OLED module.

I get time to do dusk flying so I wanted to be able to see the screen in the late afternoons. I've already modded my DX7 with a backlight and it only made sense to backlight the IRNet controller. But then I found a spare OLED module...

I void warranties.

I was prepared to buy another IRNet unit if this failed anyhow.

Thanks Deswong, but I don't have an extra channel for on/off. Manual says replace gyro channel with on/off. Gyro/rudder has two plugs and on/off has one. Does nnot compute. Would love a wiring diagram specifically for Blade400 and Spektrum DX6i

In that case, you connect your Gyro to your rudder on your receiver as per normal, and the gyro sensitivity (Which was on your gear channel) to the 4th servo output channel. (The terminology might not be right - it's 6:30am here on a Sunday morning!)

That way you can switch on and off the CPII with your gear switch on your dx6i and you set up your gains again with your CPII in one of the menus.

If I get back early enough this afternoon I might set mine up this way as well - I have a DX7 but I want to use the extra channel to trigger a camera...

If no-one can help clarify this any further today before I get back I will try and post up a quick and nasty wiring diagram to help!

If your looking to free up your gear switch on your DX6i..here's how...

1) Remove the gyro gain line (single wire connector from the gyro) from your receiver
2) Insert the the gyro gain line into channel 4 of the CPII main module
3) The "On/Off lead coming from the CPII main module now is connected to your gear output from your receiver
4) In your DX6I set the gear to gear instead of gyro ( setup menu)
5) Power up your heli and follow the quick startup menu option, there is a video @ FMA Direct to show the procedure
6) The gyro gain value (actual value) is now inputted through the CPII programmer instead of your DX6i

When completed your gear switch being a 2 position switch will allow you to turn the CPII off and on allowing you to engage 1 flight mode, that being either level or 3D depending on which one you setup and wish to use.

Hope this helps!!

There were some reports earlier of a problem with the output channel (4) of the CPII being used for gyro gain. Has this been proven to work?

I want to keep the AUx2 channel for profile selection on the Skookum. This is not a deal breaker either way but I would like to hear that someone has succefully done the trick.

working like a charm....no complaints, and I was the one who reported the original problem...rebinding took care of it for what ever reason and has not been an issue since

Just found out about CP II and I'm waiting for Uk stock to get one but will it work with a Beam E4 and a G5 as their booms do not sit level and the tails are raised slightly. Would this effect calibration / initialization of the unit before it gets off the ground and levels off?

Thanks.

If your boom levels out once you get up in the air you should not have any problem, once in a hover all you need do is trim it out to get a nice level bird.

I dont know if my battery for the b400 is getting worst or my cpII is consuming a lot of power or the cpII controlling the servos more frequently(set at 100%), flight time is becoming shorter. Maybe I have to monitor each flight time or wait till there is no high winds to fly(less movement from the servos).Oh well... im still enjoying this little device.

Even in heavy winds I have not noticed any change in my battery usage. If you are hovering a lot under full CPII control it might use a bit more, but as for me the mah back in remain the same as prior to the CPII (+/- 150mah depending on winds and flight).

No flying for me for about a month. I dumped a little over a week ago and finally got the new parts. After installing the new parts I turned on the Tx and Rx and .... nothing! Tried disconnecting the CPII thinking maybe it was causing problems. Still nothing. I have the Airtronics RDS8000 which apparently has an issue where is loses the Tx - Rx binding and won't re-bind. Airtronics will replace the Tx with a new unit but admittedly they don't actually have a fix. So, the new Tx could at some point develop the same problem. I'll be putting the RDS8000 up on ebay once I get it back.

Depends on my funds at the time. I can probably only afford the DX6i.

Looks like it will have to be the DX7 since I'm using 7 channels. The DX6i would force me to do the funky CPII & Gyro shared channel crap.
