Is everyone ready for 2015? Be sure to include plans to come to our First Ever "Heli's over Apache Pass" Don't let "First Ever" fool you. We have some very experienced guys that have been running the Austin Heli Fest for several years who are now totally focused on this event. Don't miss out this year as we as we plan on having a blast. The event is located just outside of Rockdale Texas at Fly Apache Pass. We have a great field with LOTS of room and the perfect place for night flying.

There is rv sites available with complete hook ups. The Icehouse steak house is right across the street. They have some of the best food around.

We only have 10 people pre-registered (I'm #9) and the event is only about a month away. Let's significantly increase that number so that Kenny and Joe can plan out the food and such more accurately.

I was there last year for Oktoberfest and on the flight tline there was no power other than from generators.

It looks like the weather might hold out for sunny skies on Saturday in Rockdale.

But, it looks like perhaps a fair amount of rain on Friday. So, just speaking from experience, pack your boots and be careful where you park.

My vehicle is mostly loaded up. I was able to find room for my Honda 1000 generator in addition to my Ryobi, in case someone needs power.

I'll probably have some reserve power on my Ryobi, so I could do some limited sharing from it.

I know it's a heli event and I'll certainly be bringing my X5 and probably a 450. But are other craft going to get me the stink eye? I was thinking about bringing a multirotor and my DLG as well.

According to Joe, the FPV area will be out of the way, so we can use it. I'm bringing my FPV Splinter-V (V-tail quad). The DLG is probably not going to pass muster.

Point taken. I guess in any case I'd have to walk a long way off to fly a DLG, so the chances I'd even do so are pretty slim anyways. I suppose it's best not to risk bringing such an expensive and delicate model out just to leave it in a hot car all day. I'm glad to hear we'll be able to do some FPV though.

The first day is in the books and it turned out better than it started. A storm moved through the area early this morning, but late morning and afternoon were dry and windy. The wind died down quite a bit by afternoon, although it was still blowing at a pretty good clip. Tomorrow should be a nice day.
