Default WARNING...PLZ READ

I had a bolt that holds the tail blade in the grip shear today....upon closer inspection i realize that outrage dont use the shouldered bolt seen at the bottom in the pic, this is from a trex 700n these are much stronger and will take radial pressure well. the other type that has threads upto the head are a very bad idea to use in this application that radial forces are applied.
got her down with an auto but hurt tail and boom components due to the unbalancing affect.

It fits, however the shank is a tad too long not allowing the locknut to tighten enough, and leaves the blade too loose in the grip.

Duck...sorry that you had issues with this bolt. As Clyde said, we are certainly going to look into this, I can't believe u have both parts of the bolt! how in the world did y ou manage to find them! If it we me they would have been thrown a mile out into the field!

Do you have e blade also?

I am headed to Lowes this afternoon to check on Grade 8 bolts....I only had 35mm long shanked bolts at home...and the shank on those look to be about the same as the align bolt you showed in the picture. I believe a 30mm shanked bolt should be about right, but until I can get out and get some I won't know. This is some you can do also until we look into this.

Greg,

I have 30 and 35mm bolts, I just checked the 30mm bolt, the shank length is 11 mm, when I pushed it through the grip the shank is 1mm short, where the exposed end is resting on the exposed threads right at the inside of the grip, the shank needs to be 12mm in length to allow the shank to be supported on both grips and still would allow the locknut to tighten down on the grip and not bottom out on the shank as Duck has verified with the Trex 700 tail bolt.

Looks like a special bolt will need to be sourced, as the standard 30mm bolt even if cut to the correct length won't span the grip

Greg,

Left you a VM if the only reason to make a trip to Lowes was to get a 30mm bolt, don't waist the trip

my kit was one of the first ones released.
the top bolt and nut is from the grip bolt that didn't shear, the middle one is what was left over from the sheared bolt, somehow it remained in the grip arm.

that little bolt has caused some damage now i removed the tail boom and inspected the parts, it actually twisted the boom slicing off the little alignment tab inside the front boom clamp between the frames, breaking one boom support end and cracking the other, bending the tail rotor shaft, both bearings on either side of the tail case are shot and both gears in the tail case have a couple of damaged teeth, the grip arm that had the bolt failure has excessive play in the arm. I'm guessing the thrust and radial bearings are bad. BUT NOTHING CAME APART. showing how well built and engineered the heli is.

Dom...a washer under the head of the bolt might be enough to make it work...a washer under the head and under the lock nut certainly would...as long as you use the same type washer on both blade grips balance is not an issue....

People ask "why do you like the outrage helis so much" apart from the obvious that the Helis perform in a league of their own.....
secondly is customer support...
I used to fly Align.... i had one of the first 3G units in the states,it put my 700 in the dirt twice in a row, only to find out it had quality problems with the crimping on the cable that I had to find out and provide pictures that got sent to Align HQ to resolve the problem. Not one word of support after two repair bills.
Needles to say i bought my Velocity 50 and my 700 was sat gathering dust, the Velocity 50 out performed my 700 by a long shot.
Now i own velocity50,90,and Fusion50 (in a week or so)

Outrage customer support,,,
within three hours of my post i had numerous posts and PM's from Clyde and Greg talking about the issue i had experienced.
Both very professional and courteous people....
Greg asked me if i would call him the next day to talk about replacement parts, this i wasn't expecting from my Align experince.....a phone number to a real person????
After an amazing phone call with Greg, who i may add is one of the nicest and passionate person i have met in regards to the outrage products and customer support, i now have a bunch of parts heading my way to get me back in the air at no cost to myself....all this in less than 30 hours!!! from post to problem solved to parts on the way!!
This my friends is exactly why i will buy and support Outrage products....

Big thanks to the Greg,Clyde and the Outrage team.

Bring on the Fusion 90

Hi, i'm french and don't speak very good english.....

But,
That I have contempt for other buyers?

I have buy me a kit and when I see all these flaws, I began to have fear to my machine in the air for the first time....

When I see all these problems for a machine which has been postponed has its release I know how many times I wonder if I'm going to regret my purchase...

When we want to hunt the great field, it must still be on of what we do !!!
