Default gov function

Hi all just put this unit on my velo and using it as a tail gyro for the minute.
Got the tail setup today pretty well at 101 gain in the computer menu, the problem is that the gov don't always work but its sensing the magnet?
Had it show the rpms on the computer a couple times but it dosnt always work?

Cheers
Martin

What type of sensor? I assume you set the lower throttle limits and then the high limits. Is your trim half way up. Are you using normal or active mode?

I have the standard sensor, set high and idle points ( trim just under half for a nice idle) In normal mode.
I'am running a ys56 with mks 1210 servo.

One other thing to consider is the spacing from the sensor to the magnet. It should be 1mm or less.

Default Governor

I am using the total-g on a 600nitro nitro and with the spectrum backplate sensor the governor works flawlessly, I just wish I could learn the interface better on the tho setup.I am using the unit in flybar mode and use it just as a receiver governor and tail gyro which it works flawlessly as.
But now am going to go back fbl with vbar.
Everyone uses and understands them

Well I have just got a backplate sensor so hope it works better. I must admit its quite nice to setup but the interface is slow and I don't always get the rpm in the gov screen ? The tail dose have an insane piro speed !!

With the backplate sensor off take a piece of metal put it in front of the sensor move the cursor over that magnet on the interface make sure that it turns green and That will make sure the sensor is working

Also sometimes you have to move the cursor on and off the in the interface to get to come on

[QUOTE=vboy55;3503330]What sound is the motor making when the gov is not working?

Its just running on the curves as the head speed dies faster.

Still no joy with the sensor after trying it with a allan driver in front, think i got a dud !!!

Just a little update. Had it working with the magnet for a few flights but then it stopped half way into a flight. A counter magnet came out and messed up the sensor
Got a working backplate sensor now and it picks it up fine but the gov isn't coming in, can't get the rpm screen to show the head speed now???
Any ideas ??

I am having the same issue with a spektrum backplate sensor that I installed with the total-g. When I first built the model the governor would work as advertised and when the weather got real cold it works intermittently. Don't know if it is weather related because it does work sometimes. I got an email from Curtis and he said that it is hit and miss with the backplate sensors, some work and others don't even though they are not defective. I have ordered another backplate sensor and will install it and see if it works. If it does not work I am going to install the hall sensor that came with the total-g.

The supplied sensor that came with the Total G / ATG has always worked perfectly for me....

I believe the backplate sensors are not reliable.
