a bad bearing in a motor can make the motor and ESC very warm

wrong settings in the ESC can cause problems

on a warm day the motor and ESC can get very warm. that might be normal, you should be able to hold your finger on them for a while, if is so hot you cant hold your finger on it for a while it might be a problem.

i had a castle creations ESC on a air plane. if i would hit the propeller on the ground and the motor would stop the ESC would start to beep at me 5 or 6 times and it would do this over and over again every 5 or 10 seconds. it was telling me something, probably that the motor had stopped and not because i stopped it. other ESC's may not do that so the brand of your ESC is something that we need to know. i probably cant tell you why the ESC beeps at you but someone else probably can if we know what brand of ESC you have.
