Default Toroidal core ring stay on Koby?

  • Must the ring remain, or can it be removed?
  • I just unboxed my new Koby 40. I expected the little bump that looks like an LED under the shrink wrap (lower right corner of ESC, when facing the label) to be the buttom for entering program mode, but it doesn't move when I depress with my finger tip. Am I not seeing the button? I feel no locations on the ESC which pop in like a push-button...? Help?

Hi, keep the toroidal core on.

From the manual.

4.3 Toroidal core
The toroidal core on the receiver cable allows suppression of interference and must not be removed from the cable for security reasons.

The button is located at the bottom right hand corner.

Thanks

Yep.

Harmonics of the switching frequency do not appear in the 2.4GHz band, even without the toroidal. Okay.

But oscillating structures such as gyros might feel disturbed under certain circumstances.

Therefore, let the few grams where they are. Better as that.

Thanks for the advice. I have discovered a new issue upon attempting to program it.

I am using Mini Vbar. Rx B port for ESC output to Koby. When I power up, stick at zero...throt curve 0 to 100, trav adjust 100/100, the Koby does not emit tones. Doesn't seem to arm. I have the correct throttle setup in Tx as verified by Vbar software.

What could cause this? Cannot enter programming mode without the tones.

there has been a similar problem with the AR beastx when programming esc's not sure it affects vbar aswell but it has to do with the unit not passing throttle through until after it has initialized and the ESC sees this as being no signal so it doesnt allow you to enter programming mode. maybe check with mikado or try taking the red wire out of the KOBY throttle wire and then plug the vbar into a sepirate reciever pack then plug the main pack in to power the esc and then follow normal programming sequence and see if that changes it.
