Fury 55- Rattling Tail Pushrod/Guides
Hi All
A simple one, just of of interest really, does anyone elses tail push rod rattle in the pushrod guides? I've always thought it was the belt in the boom, despite it being taught, and didn't worry about it. By chance i touched the pushrod guide whilst fiddling with it the other day with the engine running and the noise stopped. Probably going to fit a few of the guides from a JR Vibe 50 i have lying around, they support the guide on rudder grommets. (JR Part Number 60293 BTW) Thanks Matt

I had this once when I was flying, The noise was quite severe I actually landed in thinking something had came majorly loose.
However, I just wiggled the linkage a bit and put a very small amount of WD40 on there.. Job done! |

Also the tail rotor idle pulley can rattle around a little. Once its up to speed it stops though.

i was kinda concerned about that too when i was breaking in the engine. at idle it made a racket, but once i spooled up to 1800 or so, it went away.

Well seeing as i have had a few PM's about this problem is would seem i'm not alone. So i documented the change over tot he JR guides on my Fury 55.
Hardest job was getting the old MA ones off, as you have to strip down the boom to slide them off. The JR ones go one around the boom so can be fitted in situ. The original MA guide Strip down one end of the tail boom, slide the guides off, remove the ball link at one end of the pushrod Open the JR packet Slide the little 'dumb bells' onto the tail pushrod Reassemble the tail Fit the supports round the boom, gripping the pushrods, adjust until straight and level and nice smooth pushrod movement, then nip them up. I put all four guides on the Furys boom. Hope that helps Matt

Matt,
thanks. I am trying to eliminate the reason for a very warm BLS251 tail servo. Even when i let the heli sit at idle for a few minutes, the tail servo gets incredible warm. I'll report back if it fixes the problem. Ray. |

Another quick fix for a rattling pushrod is to twist the guides slightly out of line. the rod still remains free but the rattling wire stops.

Replace this system immediately! i had the same issue and it actually caused the pushrod to snap mid flight causing lots of damage. Worst part on this heli. I now use a thick carbon rod with teflon heatshrink where it runs in the guides i got from rons.
