http://www.espritmodel.com/neu-700-3...ies-motor.aspx Yes, an inrunner, it is. I haven't checked it with an IR gun, but it doesn't run that hot to the touch, especially considering the windings are on the case , so you really get the heat transfer. It does also have a built in fan like other motors. I got it because I was looking at the Mezon, and saw that's what Danny was running, so I asked him about his setup and decided to try the same thing.

Does it means that it is geared whereas the Kontronic is direct drive ?
Since electric motors are more efficient at high RPM is the inrunner better ?

The 1900 series Neu's are direct drive, run very well and make good power. They have fallen out out favor as the quest for ever more power has everyone stuffing the biggest outrunner they can in their machines. There is a new Neu in development that is based on the 2200 series motors. I expect these will match or beat any of the big outrunners.

No, it is not geared. On an outrunner, the windings are mounted to the inner/mounting part of the case, and the outer case spins, typically what's is used now days. An in runner, the winding are mounted on the outer case, and in spins internally. The outside does not move. I think that's a basic explanation, anyway.

I have a BEC amperage alarm set. After flying several flights and keeping a log of the peak BEC current recorded in the min/max log I set an alarm about 2A above the highest peak that the Mezon recorded.
If that high BEC alarm happens to trigger in flight it could be a sign a servo is starting to have problems and drawing excessive amperage. It might not work that way and may never trigger in "real life" but it's still a nice to have alarm IMO.

Oops, meant to post that in your "alarms" thread. Somehow accidentally posted it in here!
