I thought that I would just throw up a quick thread to cover some changes that I have made to my #1 550 recently ....

Here she is - it's an SFD so it has the Glass fibre "B" Canopy + CNC swash + hollow main Shaft + CNC Elevator guide + Short Boom + 500mm blades

I recently added the Helidirect skids - wider and slightly higher than standard, but not as "Big Foot" as the previous Trex 600 skids. Oh and they're a little bit more orange than the old ones

Always had the battery mounts from ReadyHeli

Again, always had the Z20A 980, CNC swash, and CNC levers for aileron, pitch and elevator

CNC elevator guide is part of SFP spec

I wouldn't be without the Lipo monitor from EflierNZ

And finally the tail case from Sonix / CNChelicopter

I really like how it is flying now - using 15 / 50 / 20 / 61 for a HS of about 1900

Cheers,
Mike.

your hurri is looking good Mike.. I fly the same motor and gearing...and I think it gives plenty of power... not as much as a Z30-1110..but plenty for sport/mild 3D.. stick some CF blades on it and you'll like it even more

Thanks Mystic, I really like the gearing like this - I'm very tempted by the Torsion 500mm CF blades.

Looks great

Try a cf frame spacer behind your motor
only gotta drill 2 holes
Saved my subsequent motors from cnc arm rashes.

This is looking down front--->

hehe... have someone on another site that spaced the arms out enough to stuff a 4020 (hyperion rebranded scorpion) in there... he's testing it today... and he has a 4025 to try in it as well...

well... preliminary reports are in for the Hyperion 4020-1100kv (made by scorpion).. he only got one flight on it.. but said he had never flown a heli with that much power before...now he's gonna make me have to get one just to test it out....hopefully that motor and a hyperion VX 3300 or 4200 35c lipo in a head hunter frame... that would be a very intense flight....

Thanks guys,

Jerry - I actually fin dthe white ends easy to see, except when you get the dull, grey days.

Bobbye - I would be without the lipo monitor, beeing an old duffer I regularly forget to turn the timer on and this way I have 2 chances. You can easily see it on a fly-by with it like this.

Mike.

It'll be interesting to hear the results - sounds like a Z30 1100 competitor.

Mike.

I don't know if it would compete against the Z30... but this person is going to test the Z30 as well... he'll be gathering data with his eMeter (like and eagle tree) so we can have a real comparison.. not just I like this one better type rating...

Hi Mikej, did you get that canopy in UK , mine a little tight on Zippy 3300. I have just fitted the stiffy and flown in the garden makes it sound smoother.

Tony,

Nope - from memory it was Flying-Hobby, Helidirect or Readyheli.

Cheers,
Mike

Up until Saturday it had been really nice for the past 3 weeks or so, this weekend has been a bit dodgy and it is due to rain for the next few days - good timing

Sorry Mike, been busy doing maintenance on the UK house and haven't had much time to check HF. I will be staying in our house here in Surrey.
Hoping to get some flying in with Nigel Fraser Kerr of Helilessons-he's a mate (writes for Rotorworld, and Trex tuning.
Weather's not too bad eh?

JB
