Have you check all that?
All the bearings are new and not Gaui ones, they all seem fine and the OWB is working OK. This is something to check into if my next tests don't turn out OK.

I re-initialized my ESC with these settings just now and it does seem better. But it was a very quick test without blades. I will be re-assembling tonight ready for a test in the morning.

Thanks to everyone so far. I was about to give up or probably spend money on something I don't need.

I will post my results

Cheers!

no problem...and now that you have the ESC reprogrammed, you can adjust the throttle curve all you want.. setting it linear to program it teaches the ESC the endpoints of the throttle channel.

It flys!!!

Yes it works, thanks to everybody.

Spinning up there was a slight wobble, but once it got through that it was off and no glitches. It was a bit unstable until I realised I had not re-set the throttle curve. Once that was done it was really smooth, despite it being a bit gusty. So if you want a smooth flight get the head speed up before you lift off. I have seen this mentioned before but not realised how much difference it makes and apparently is a more efficient way of using the battery because the ESC doesn't heat up as much.

There was one worrying thing though. The beeps I got when connecting the motor are not there anymore. It's not the motor because when I switch the radio on it does beep.
If anyone has any thoughts on this.......

Still, happy days are here again

Thanks again!!

Rich,

Good to hear - well done. As you say helis are much happier with a constant headspeed - change the pitch of the blades to give more / less lift - and the tail works much better with more HS.

I'm confused by your description of the beeps - you're not disconnecting the motor every time are you ??. The beeps are made by the ESC (well actaully the motor "makes" the noises, but it is told which tones to play by the ESC).

Cheers,
Mike.
P.S. - it's a shame that you're just a bit too far away - I'm in Henley on Thames, so about 75 miles away.

rich......did you mean you plug your battery in then turn your radio on.if so your risking your heli starting at full power with no control.you always turn your transmitter on first

Yes you are both right, I am an idiot!!

I admit I made the cardinal error of plugging the motor in first. The ESC has no BEC so is powered from an extra LiPo. Well switching on in the correct order (TX, RX, Motor) and the beeps are back.

I must get this right!!

Maybe I need a carer?

Thanks for the input

Rich
