Bob, I think it would be sweet if after you got it all built and test fly/review it, put that sk360 on it and do a flybarless test, this heli is just beggin for it. Next gen heli on next gen cyclic control... DECENT!

Great vids Bob! Had a protos for awhile now, so this is jogging my memory a bit. Looking forward to the rest.

Finless,
Here is a quick tip, when you install the landing gear struts, grab 2 small washers out of the spares bag, and put them between the gear and the frame. Gives that canopy a little more room in that area, so you don't have to force it on. povern

Help W/understanding "integrated chinese weights built in"
Quote:
I have attached examples from Fireup's tail mod post as examples of a weighted counterbalance as well as a couple Protos images. I just don't see the "integration" of weight as a counterbalance. I have a full size tail servo (401/9254) and the only problems I have had is inexperienced thumbs. I just don't understand and would be grateful of some insight. Also, is there a good way to test static buildup? Again not experiencing any problems just curious. Thanks Bradey |

yes good point. I thought this was part of the "new" kit yet I did not have anythng that appeared to be weighted tail grips.
I did notice that unlike Finless's kit where he used just one .020 washer on the head I had 2 .010 washers instead (in two separate places on my heli. I am wondering if I did indeed get an older kit. |

Mainshaft is a darker blackish color ?
tail case to fin bolt holes molded into the tail case nice and round ? maingrips won't assemble like newer manual ( bearing/grip/thrust/bearing) (not bearing/grip/bearing/thrust) old kit ------------ new kit has shiney steel hollow mainshaft tail case has the bolt holes reinforced with a plastic gusset maingrips will go togeather like manual says. If it's an older kit , just contact the vendor , the update kit is free Martin

So to fix this I soldered a wire to a strip of brass shim stock, rubbed off the black anodiziation under the tail servo clamp, slipped in the shim there. Ran the wire to a motor mount screew. Once the boom was bonded with the belt through the motor mount my problem was eliminated. |

Nice canopy. good bright colors. The stock canopy looks good the ground but it's a hard find in the air
Is that a canmod unit ? for the protos or maby a 500 canopy made to fit ? I haven't seens any canopy's for the protos yet. Martin

Canomod but, I find it extremly heavy. No batery in it, just the motor and with the added weight of this canopy, it actually sat on the skids as opposed to sitting back on the tail skid. Not sure how much of a problem this might be.
I realy liked the stock canopy, but mine came in cracked in three places. I am waiting on the replacement. Ill prb weigh it up and post later. Also it doesnt fit, I ll need to dremmel it in the center to allow it to come back far enough to fit the posts. Very durable, but very heavy. Could be a detriment. |
