Default Improvised pinion mounting tool

I got a C05M and 8 tooth pinion off of ebay for my BL project and was a little apprehensive as to how to mount it without damaging the motor. The following method worked really well for me.

1) Just barely started the pinion by hand and made sure it was square.
2) Placed the motor on a solid surface (10 lb metal weight)
3) Used a Dremel cut-off disk arbor with the screw removed as a punch (the screw hole leaves room for the motor shaft).
4) While holding the disk arbor on the pinion, I lightly tapped the arbor with a small hammer.

Went on like butter, no damage on mine but attempt at your own risk.

Do you hold the motor in the vise or are you pressing the pinion on with it? If pressing, where does the motor shaft go once it's flush with the pinion?

I used a vice as well. $16 + tax at home depot.

I put the back of the motor on one side. I put the pinion on by hand and close a few mm with the vice. I then used a wheel from a tech deck (only thing in my house small enough) to put around the pinion and pushed the pinion the rest of the way.
