We have for years used exclusively JR servos (and can fully recommend their performance is outstanding), so why the experiment? The truth is, Kyle is not radio sponsored (that's by design), and we can get the servos at a really good price through Mikado. So we thought we'd give them a shot with this prototype heli, to see what would happen.

It's nice not to have to run a voltage regulator for the tail servo, and the speed and power of the servos on HV are awesome.

But can I fully recommend them? Not yet, after only a 100+ flights. All I can say is they are currently performing great. After we get 1000 flights of aggressive 3D on a set (never had a JR servo go less than 1200 flights before a failure), and if the Savox's are still going strong, THEN we'll recommend them (-:

any update on the savox servos? looking for servos for logo 700 :-)

As Mr Mel said they are somewhat current monsters

Going by some Kosmik logs the Savoxs pulled and sustained much higher amps than the Futaba servos (I don't have the logs or numbers in front of me anymore but I do remember that there was quite a big differance between the two)

I still think the savox servos are good. Just need to know and make provisions for the amp draws.

I've been reading alot of posts about the bec's both good quality and not as good.

If it were me i'd go the seperate lipo receiver with the savox servo line.

I wanted to get the bls 157's also but even on black friday they're well over $500

As much as i love the bls futaba's (got several of the bls 451 /251 and will be getting another bls256 ) i opted to get 2 sets of the jr 8917's. There 2s lipo ready , 3 yr warranty , and according to dave will last into the 1200 flight mark for reliabilty.

I'm running the 2s lipo rx packs in both my 700/800.

I run these hv savoxes in my 800xx for 6 flights now, i like them and power them with a 2cell 1800 sls. Not smacking it around yet but the powersystem works fine. If you want to run a bec from your flightlipo's, in that case find a heavy duty bec. A friend here uses a WesternRobotics, but its 12s limited.

I had one of them BEC.
After around seventy flights it is torched.
Now I use a proven quality of a 2s LiPo power supply! Works perfekt!

Default HV lipo size

What size lipo are you guys running with your HV servos? Fair to say the Savox 22xxs would need twice that?

I use a 1800 lipo and loose 300ah in one flight so i dont understand the question.
A lipo can keep up easily with the ampdraw of the savoxes.

Question was actually, 'how small a battery can I use' since less weight = more chopper performance. Whatever works for non-Savoxbrushless servos might need to be doubled for the Savox 22xx servos.

But yes, the weight of a 2AH 2s battery is not much for a 700 size heli so probably explains the lack of responses to my question! So I think its all good.

I'd think a 2000 mah would be good.

I average 8-900 mah per charge = 4 flights

So even if you slipped up and flew 6 flights before realizing and assuming you have some kind of lipo monitor. That would provide some insurance.

I run 4000 mah myself , i didn't pick it really , just had the pack from my 700n heli.

Granted i'm no pro pilot hotdog but i can't feel the weight. Heli flies great.

I can tell the difference with 200g on a logo 6003d though.

Hi folks

How about the SB 2270SG ? They are under Logo 800 parts at RH and it states " amazingly low power consumption!" ... Yay or nay?

Well... after running the Align version of the 2271s, I'd say 'yay', er, low consumption for the torque they make. 2270 should be same-ish.

All told I'd say the savox brushless servos draw no more ON AVERAGE than other digital coreless servos... but running mine on 2s lipo 2000mah and can confirm what others are saying in this thread- so thank you all!

The 2270s seem to consume less than my bls451s but I have no numbers to support that.

This is kind of old, but I was wondering if Kyle got more flights with the Savox servos and what was the conclusion?

Run Savox HV servos in my 3 800 size heli's and have had zero issues and to be honest have not found them to be current monsters, in fact just the opposite, I run mine on a Thunder power 3800mah lipo and get 6 flights with a good margin left.

My buddy also uses the same in his 720 Raptor with the same results.

That's pretty power hungry. I can get 5 flights on a 1350mah lipo with my Futaba BLS255's.

I'm averaging 150mah per 4:30 flight on my 8917/bls 256hv combo on my 800.

Flying a bit of a hack smack .. lol and big air stuff.

Still can pull about 3500 mah in 4:30

I run a 2s2p 4000 pack , I typically run 6-8 flights ( about 1000-1200mah ) before recharging. Miles of safety room.

Love my Savox SG 1268 HV servos, just built a Logo 800 xxtreme and fitted these, Mikado also must like them, as Savox are the servos shown fitted in the factory instruction booklet.
