Default Flybar cage rods breaking, quality issues

After the second flight, both (!!!) flybar control rods in the flybar cage were broken, right next to the ball where the link snaps on. That really shouldn't happen. The hex starter adapter for the starter shaft is junk, I had to drill a hole and fix an allen bolt in so it wouldn't spin loose, the links are really hard and an incredible PITA to get onto the rods, the pre-assembled gears for the tail were assembled wrong and the screws had no loctite, and the tail pitch slider is a bitch to get smooth, in typical Outrage fashion. Oh yeah, the main blade grip bolts were threaded all the way. After hearing reports that they can shear in flight, I replaced them with Trex 700 bolts. Other than that it went together well and flies great. Don't get me wrong, I'm an Outrage fan and love my Velo 50, but at the moment I wouldn't recommend a Velo 90, they have to really step up quality control, it's worse than Align...

If the flybar cage bits are breaking that is usually a sign that you are getting binding.

Ok, will check again for binding when I get the new rods. Just to make sure, I'll install them in the outer hole of the flybar cage (they were in the middle hole now), just as I did with the Velo 50. One other thing, the bolts holding the tail rotor blade grips to the tail rotor hub were threaded all the way. I heard those could shear as well. Should I try to replace them?

Yes, contact the dealer where you bought the kit, I saw something posted somewhere on here about that.

V90 Tail Blade Bolts

by Andrew on Feb.07, 2011, under Velocity 90
It has come to our attention that some early Velocity 90 kits were shipped from the factory with fully threaded tail blade bolts. Ideally, these should be a ‘long shank’ or ‘shouldered’ bolt. Please check your Velocity 90, and if you find a fully threaded bolt in this location contact the Outrage distributor in your country and request a replacement. We are sorry for this inconvenience.
