Question Support for 425/550

Will Gaui still support the 425 / 550 now that the new X5 and 255 are for sale? Checked lots of places for spare parts and most places are out of most parts

They have put alot of time/advertising/promotion etc on the 425/550 recently to stop the parts backup now. You would think alot of their monthly turnover now would would be 425/550 parts mostly. There has been a big flux of ppl buying gaui 425/550 kits for quite some time now. There is even a thread here about the sudden increased traffic in the gaui section of HF which is obviously signs of increased sales. They would be crazy to pull out on the parts support now, they would lose millions.

I think they have sold so many machines and parts they are still ramping up to meet the new higher demand. I would not worry to much about availability of parts, I know Empire is working hard and dedicated to keeping up as I speak with Jack Burnside on occasion.

If you need parts for the 550 just buy the 425 kit for 79.00 and send me all the 425 booms and belts and the 2 piece canopies. You will come out ahead.

You use the 550 build videos ( same thing ). As for the kit, all you will need to complete it besides the electronics are a set of main blades. Yes the canopy is included, most people don't care for it, I like it but gluing it together is a bit of a pain.

Yes I taped it together from the inside with scotch tape and then spread canopy glue in the joint. I had a major crash that ripped the canopy off the frame but it did not come unglued. Also Hobby-Lobby has a very nice Carbon Fiber canopy for 25.00 or so. It says plastic version but it is CF that fits the plastic frame. They also have the kit for 79.00.

I thought those canopies were fiberglass? The one marked carbon was for the carbon frame and the one marked plastic was for the plastic frame?

You are correct. I got the FG canopy for the plastic frame from AlleRC. I think it was about $25.
