Default What does CCPM stand for?

And what exactly does it mean? Thanks.

Cyclic Collective Pitch Mixing. It's what all the 450's I've heard of use. It takes 3 servos spaced usually 120 degrees apart to tilt the swash plate, left, right, back, forward and raise and lower it. I'm sure someone else has a more technical answer, but this is the jist of it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ccpm

The T-Rex 450X and 450XL HDE used mechanical mixing like the Raptor series helis; there is one elevator servo, one aileron servo and one pitch servo that all work independently. All the modern Rex kits are direct servo-to-swash CCPM.

= mechanical ccpm

=electronic ccpm

Anything using a swash plate is ccpm except in fixed pitch

So technically we have mCCPM and eCCPM.

But common usage is CCPM = eCCPM.

Not quite. Anything that moves the swashplate up and down to increase or decrease collective pitch is a form of CCPM.

Not all models do that.

The fact that the servos all work in unison to give us insane cyclic is the 'e' in ccpm.

.
How does the swash effect a fixed pitch heli? Does a fixed pitch have cyclic and collective?

Edit: This question is designed to make one think!

The swash in a fixed pitch just tilts to angle the blades for forward, backward, side to side movement for the heli.

Rotor speed is the only thing making it go up and down in a fixed pitch; so it's less effecient.

CCPM has collective and the swash stays level and slides up and down level for up and down motion, adding pitch to both blades equally. Then all 3 work in unison for cyclic with one or more servo going down, and one going up, etc.
