MD500 scale
I'd really like to build a 500 size MD500 scale using a protos500. Does anybody have leads on a quality scale fuselage?
Would this perhaps fit? http://www.scaleflying.com/MD500-Fib...ize_p_758.html Chief

I think they make thier scale bodies mostly around fitting a Trex, you could email them to see if a Protos would work. I'd be curious to what they say.

Hey Chief,
I built an Ec135 w/Protos, a lot of mods required, more then most scale projects. Most fuse are designed around align, Few things you will need to to are run stretched boom and build a sub frame/platform , to lift frame/head height up to desired height. mine is about 20-30 mm high and boilt on a 5deg angle to compensate Protos frame geometry. Stick w/ something using a 2 blade head, will save you a lot more mods. W 4 blade need to cut headspeed way down and not so easy to do w/Protos. My project been on hold for a while for a custom wound motor.Looking to be around 700KV to run appropriate hs and allow esc to run high. Cutting back hs too much makes for very unhappy esc It gets hotter then normal in fuse and lowering th curve below 70% make for a VERY HOTT! esc. MSH-Direct (above) posted a link to my thread. I have a couple more in scale section. Any questions feel free to shoot me a pm. Good luck w/your build!

For the stretched boom, what belt do you use? Chief

Great head start. I can deal with the frame being too low-- I was worried the Protos frame would be too big vs. the Trex500. You might ask why all the trouble to put a Protos in scale-- I'm impressed with the belt design on this heli and want something as reliable as possible. I hate crashing due to mech failures... Chief

Crickr1,
On your multi-blade head-- to lower the headspeed could you just drop the packs down to 5S or 4S on the stock motor vs. using a different motor? Chief

I was gonna suggest just that. No need for fancy custom motors or tiny, weak pinions. Just go 5s and it'll run 1800RPM with the stock motor, pinion and ESC at about 80% throttle.

I was considering that, just outweighing lipo cost vs motor, already have multiple6s lipos for other helis

Ok, ordered the Protos today. I'll probably fly it stock for a season then look at the MD500 conversion.
Anybody have leads on high quality scale fuselages? Chief
