Default Hitec 7950's???

Anyone think that the Hitec 7950 servo would work well on the cyclic? I'll need these on a 50 size heli. Hitec say's they produce 403oz./in. of torque at 6.0 volts! My last 7940's worked pretty decent making 181@6.0v. Still trying to decide over the 8717HV's..

.15 second transit time vs .06

The 8717s would be better.

stick with the 7940's. The 7950's are a bit slow.

You can move the balls around but I don't think you can make up that much speed

Chose the 7940 over the 8717 mainly because you can pick them up for 119$ : ) and that's a good deal for an hv servo...... also why do you not want to buy another pair of 7940? I am in love with them on my 700 and dont see why you would need more torque when they do 222 oz at .06 on 7.4v vs. 220 oz at .06 on 7.4v for the 8917 servos : ) that's 2oz more for a cheaper servo : ) and better gear terrain.

Why do you think you need so much torque?

I was having problem's with my last set of 7940's, I believe they were getting too hot at 6.0v, I was using the mini vbar. If I held the chopper inverted too long it would alway's start a hard pull in one direction after a few second's.

FBL will always pull more current. Go with a 7.4v setup, you'll be fine.

IF you think you're having an issue, send them back to Hitec...they have of the best customer support you'll find in this industry. Do you have your receipts? They'll ask but you never know...they may just send you some new ones.

Don't give up on the 7940s. I use them on my 90 and have zero issues on 7.4v.

What are you regulating the voltage with? Someone said don't run these servo's nor the Minivbar over 7.4v's...

I was using this bec set at 6.0 volt's... there isn't a 7.4v setting just 8.4v and that was too high...

I run mine at the 8.4V..... its more like 8.2v tho : ) using the super herc bec..... no ill effects yet and servos are nice and cool..... whats the point of having hv if your not going to run them hv..... full charge lipo is 8.4v so they have to be up for it since their made for un regulated 2s lipo.

I was just told not to from a few member's back when I bought my first JR 8717's, then got the 7940's and they worked ok on 6.0v but seem to lack in response, I may buy the HV jr's that are 200.00 each, surly they will take it lol.

I use the perfect regulators CCPM v1 and v2 regulators. The v2 reg can be run from 5v to 10v, (10v on 3s) adjustable via screw. Simply put a multimeter on one of the servo leads and turn the screw.

as to voltage for the 7940's they are designed to work on a 2s directly which is 8.4v fully charged, so a regulator at that voltage should be fine.
