Default 600xf-1100 motor timing

Good day, just want to ask what's the best motor timing for the 1100 motor? Seems this motor eats a lot of juice. Running 6s 5000, 1165 HS on a trex600 esp, cc edge 100 esc, after 4 mins flight 15-20% left in the pack. Right now im at 0 timing. I had 1175 motor before, 25-30% left in the pack after the same 4min flight at 0 timing and 2050 HS.

Thanks!

Hey Reggie,

The ideal motor timing on the KDE600XF-1100 is Low (0) in the Castle Creations equipment, running a PWM Rate of 12 kHz.

In terms of flight-time, this is drive by how hard you are flying, the condition of your batteries, and headspeed/collective pitch range. If you are looking for longer flight-times, you can drop down a pinion size (16T) and run a lower-headspeed, as well as decrease your collective pitch range, which all leads to lower amperage draws. The reduction in flight-time you are witnessing is primarily caused by the difference in headspeed - you were running 2050 HS previously, and now stepped up to 2165 RPM.

The motor is very high efficiency, but will put out the power-demands you desire when asked to, so the flight-time will be driven by your flying style and also, the condition of the batteries.

Also, since it’s now winter, cooler temperatures will result in shorter-flight times from the LiPos (and power-output) in most areas, where temperatures are below 50F. I don’t remember where you live specifically, so the Winter may not be cold for you, but it’s definitely a factor for us up here in the Pacific Northwest with temperatures around 38F.

Thanks,
Patrick

Hey Patrick, do you know what the best settings might be for my setup? I have that motor in my trex 550 with 556 Rails and 95mm Rail tails. I have a Castle 120 esc running the 164 tooth main and i believe a 16 or 17 tooth pinion, Thunder Power 65C 5000 mah 8 celled, +12 deg / -12 deg pitch ,and 10 deg cyclic. I'm running a HS of 2500 gov. I need help on my gain, headspeed change rate, PWM, and timing. Any help would be really appreciated. By the way GO HAWKS!!!!!! I see you live by me

For the Castle Governor, here are the optimal settings:

Motor Timing = Low (0)
Governor Gain = Custom (20)
PWM Rate = 12 kHz

The rest is to your liking of the standard Castle Creations setups, such as the Motor Startup Power, Startup Speed, etc.
