I hope these G3 will stand up to abuse... and when they say 4x life... do they mean 10 cycles or 50 cycles??
Have you used your 6S Evolites on your Protos? Anything bad about that "odd" shape? Might be a pain to get the rubber bands hooked up, since the pack protrudes over the batt tray of the Protos/Rex.

I will take some pics of all the packs I have and post when I get back home.

hello,

i would try the hyperion 6S 4000 mah. the protos has less weight then trex 500 and i thougt, i could fill the rest of gramms with capacity. im flying no 3D. does it work then? and does the battery fit under the canopy? (598g, 140 x 42 x 55.5 mm)

I test flew my new HypeG3 35C 6s2600 (413grams) taking the Protos to another level of beast! . My first flight was only for testing purposes and getting it tach'd in the air. The G3 pack is almost identical in size as the Evolites, interesting its heavier than the EVO 25C but its physically smaller. No problem fitting 3000 packs, I don't know about the 4000 for CG though. The Outrage 3000 25C was about max weight to get CG perfectly and I am using a 9254 tail servo.

HypeG3=413g
Evolite=385g
EVO=400g

On my Protos
With the Z20-850kv, 17T
idle1 80% 2750
idle2 90% 3150
My older packs I fly them at idle2 which feels like 2600-2700

I charged up again (within 20min at 10amp setting) and had a friend try it on his Trex500 (Z20-1700kv 12T) and he is a better flyer than I am and that is the graph below. We tach'd the beginning of his flight at 2950 rpm and 2750 at end.

I don't think it holds voltage as well as the Outrage pack but its very close and power seems pretty good throughout the flight? I cant compare it as my Outrages are dead.

This is phenomenal! Look at how level and high the voltage curve is! An average of above the nominal voltage is just fantastic!

I put my 6S 2500 25C on my friend's Protos tonight (did not have a chance to fly though), and the pack fits well under the canopy (mounted like you did).

Picking up my Protos Carbon from the post office tomorrow. Cannot wait to slice the air with her ...

Best and thanks,
Frank

Frank you will have a blast with the Protos, its kick arse heli!

Also if you load it up with larger packs it will feel smoother and you get longer flight time.

The biggest pack I would use is a 6s 3000ma 475 grams max, any more than that it will be nose heavy.

Here it is.
6pack and 3pack placement. They fit, no probs.

and this is what will happen if you insist on using 16T with Gen3 packs

What happened? Crazy headspeed and the heli won't handle that insane headspeed?

Hey Wespen, thanks for the photos, shame about the crash. What's with the collection of black cables (O-rings?) sitting horizontally around the LG ? And how did the CF frame hold up ?

Carbon one with cable (thats still in one piece) is mine.
Cable is USB from V-Bar I didnt want to unplug untill I set it up, so I just wrapped it arround skids
https://www.helifreak.com/showpost.p...&postcount=120

Plastic one was friends bird. He wouldnt listen and left 16T on it.
HS was insane, poor Protos was spinning like 3500 RPM with 100% flat governed.
On second tic-toc Jazz 80 shut it down and he did half-good auto.
Frame snapped near motor mount, but we CA-ed it at field and reinforce it with carbon plate.

So now we swapped out to 15T and lowered the Jazz to get 2800 RPM.
After 5 mins and about 2000mAh consumed motor lost power in tic-toc and it was straight down from 15m.
He tried to recover, but HS droped fast since he was inverted. Didnt look so bad untill we got to it.
Whole servo block shattered and all 3 servos broke off smasing all servo cases.
Tail box shattered and frame broke in 3 pieces including lower bearing part.

I was suprised to see tail pitch leveler in one piece. I broke like 5 of those already
I guess tail box and servo block are weak spots...well and forward frame, near motor

I think he damaged the motor in first run, we could smell the burnt insulation
He pulled like 1600W on that

Ok, here is my EagleTree.
Squeezing out 2500mAh from 2600mAh pack.
Check the voltage!!!
Till 2300mAh its still 23V, and drops to 21V at 2500mAh.
Buy, buy, buy

I did, four of 'em

Actually, I got the 25C ones (called CX). The CX stands for capacity optimized (price/value).

The ones you guys have eagletreed are the VX ones (35C). The VX stands for optimzed voltage behavior under load, which your guys' graphs certainly proof.

Would love to see an eagletreed CX pack ...

Best,
Frank

I see you went over 6 minutes, with a peak amp of 1700 watts. Nice!
Are you using the stock SAB blades?

I am impressed with the packaging. Nice looking product. Very poilished in a decorated box. Battery is a blocky like structure. a little fatter and not as long as my other 6S.

The packaging lasted as long as I opened it... , in the recycle bin it goes. I wish they save me some money instead and put them in plastic or brown box, heck a days old newspaper would work.

Here is another logged flight with the RPM sensor installed. I tried the brushless sensor and it didnt work... maybe I plugged it in wrong. Agree Voltage is holding pretty good with these packs but these are the 35C packs and flight was on 80 percent. I did a 10 seconds of 90 percent and its way too much for me.
