Default Its good flying a Ballistic again...

Well after having a pretty much mixed year flying planks and helis, having ups and downs, and being really indecisive about what I have and what I keep (some buyers got really good deals at my expense... ) I bought another Ballistic 700 on Thanksgiving and maidened it plus a couple more flights yesterday. What a smooth flying heli - forgot how nice it is to fly.

It'll probably be the last day I fly this season as the weather was not typical for a December day in Wisconsin...

BTW - Anyone have a 13T helical pinion they would be willing to sell? I'm running a 12T right now and I think I need to bump up my headspeed a bit - the heli is missing some "pop". The collective seems really sluggish at this time.

I will check to see if I have a 13 tooth. Checked your pitch ? Increase throttle ?

Glad you are enjoying the Ballistic again. Awesome Helis.

It is winter here now so no outdoor flying. We had our last day 3 - 4 weeks ago.

Just trying to get my 180 CFX ready to go fly at indoor tonight.

I bumped up my headspeed today and it was much better. I should be good with the 12T pinion. I'm guessing my battery packs are kinda worn out also but no sense buying batteries now with winter setting in. I'll wait until spring for that.

What pitch are you guys running? Im at +/- 11 running a scorpion nick maxwell 4235-520, yge 120hv. With my curves at 85% today, my headspeed should be around 1938 according to Mr Mels headspeed calculator.

I want to go through my Helis setup and check my settings but I think it is 11 degrees plus and minus.

I have a Scorpion 4525-520 motor, Kontronik Jive 120 HV ESC, 12 tooth pinion, 1850, 1950 rpm.

Sorry I only have one 13 tooth. So I want to keep it.

I just went through my setup tonight and increased my pitch to +/- 12.5. Will probably get a chance to try it out later this week.

So I got a chance to fly the heli again yesterday - its been pretty mild here so far, but it was foggy so no long climbouts. Still using the 12T pinion, I bumped up my pitch to +/- 12.5 and went through my ESC setup again (YGE 120). Good thing I did that because it was not set up correctly. Reprogrammed the ESC (correctly this time) and its flying great! Using Mr Mels headspeed calculator I'm running 1890 in idle 1 and 1990 in idle 2. Was flying mostly at 1890.

Thinking I'm going to stick with the 12T - happy camper here...

Now if I could only replace the batteries from the back so the canopy doesnt have to come off...

Great news !! Glad you have it figured out. They fly really nice.

I have RC Booya quick release to attach and remove the canopy. Works well.
