Default FBL question

I have a 300x with an align 3gx.... I'm using a dx6i transmitter and I can't get it to work. Is it possible to use my transmitter with the 3gx?

I've used 3GX with both the DX8 and DX6i, so it is possible, but it's been a while. What seems to be the issue?

I heard that the dx6i will not work unless I buy a spektrum reciever because the 3gx is a 7 Chanel FBL. It worked fine with my dx8, but that transmitter broke and I'm using my backup.

Default DX6i with 3GX

Ok . . . yeah you need a full receiver to use it with a dx6i since the gyro channel is 7 on the 3GX and you need to to be able to "assign" it by how you wire it up with the full receiver. It will work, but a few more wires than with just a satellite.

6 channel receivers are fairly cheap in the for sale section. In fact, if you want to PM me, I think a have a few just sitting around. (went to all satellites when I shifted to Gpros)

Here's a thread that might help: https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=360625

It's fairly short and some conflicting info unless you read all the way through.

Good luck! dja2424

I just installed the 3gx on a Trex 500efl Pro using my Dx6i and I had to get a spectrum receiver to get the to work. I'm got the AR6210 and it's working just fine.

Can the 3gx be setup using transmitter like the ar7200bx? Or do I HAVE TO plug it into a computer?

Most of the programming can be done directly on the unit itself. The transmitter is not needed for programming per se. You do need everything powered up to program it. There are a few parameters (that are easier to program connected to the computer software - rudder delay being one). There's several good youtube videos you can watch to learn about programming the 3GX. It's been a while since I've done it, but it's definitely doable and not as bad as some make it out to be.

Good luck! dja2424
