opinion -- bec or no
Howdy Gents,
Was looking for some feedback I guess you would call it. I have Turnigy Plush 80A ESC in a 90 size plane (Ultimate biplane) thats going to run 8s 4500 -- the ESC sitting idle and moving servos for a constant 2 minutes didnt heat it up at all. The motor max is 65A for 60 secs so Im hopeing the extra headroom will allow the bec to keep cool. I understand if the ESC fails, so does my control - Would you run a seperate BEC? Markus |

I wouldn't use the built-in BEC for anything 6s or higher, unless you are not using digital servos.

its a 90 size airplane. run a spare battery. IF that BEC were to fail, you would have a very large un-controlled lawn dart. The airplane can cover the couple extra ounce's from a dedicated Rx battery w/o any noticeable flight characteristic changes.
