Any radio is good for beginner it's all about putting on you're thinking cap and read and know
what each funcion do. Other then that this radio is good. Would be better getting the futaba 8fg
because you can flash it to become a 14ch radio instead of 8. Futaba 8fg is really easy to use.
But this radio looks good but notice the lcd screen to small and to little that can fit in that screen.
Futaba 8fg is great for starter and to extreme professional 3d pilot and airplane flyers. Basically
futaba 8fg is good starter and can be you're last radio. By the way futaba 8fg there is firmware
to add 14ch on total ch this radio support and plus add many feature.

yes it's a starter radio. But seem to be missing alot of feature as pro radio. Starter radio usually
people grow up and throws it away or sell it. Good to start but not good for the future if you plan
to be in this hobby long time. Beside it's only 6ch.

By the way I wunder if this full range radio.

I was glad to see that Futaba has done something for their entry level radio market by redesigning a new 6 channel radio.
They added all the things the 6ex was missing IMO.
Like, sub-trim, assignable switches (now gyro gain can be added to your idle up switch), a full range 6 channel receiver with a separate battery slot, hover trim, idle up delay, and a pitch/throttle mix. For 179$.

Pretty much to keep up with the super popular DX6i I would guess.

Oh, and there is only one version of the 6j. No need to worry bout A or H version. The throttle ratchet can be reversed for smooth throttle.

Guess you could say I'm sold.

Just remember something, this radio/receiver (or anything related to the new Futaba FHSS system) is not comparable with Futaba's FASST system. The new Futaba FHSS system is a simple parkflyer entry level set.

Doug.

I see. I didn't realize that the two systems weren't compatible.

It does say it is a full range receiver though, and the manual doesn't give any model size limitations.

Not being able to run any of the FASST stuff is kinda lame.

Whats not lame is go for older futaba 9c super and buy frsky module and receiver with telemetry less then 70 bucks. Damn full 8ch receiver under 30 bucks. Did I mention telemetry? Futaba receiver is just to expensive right now and I dubt it will lower down.

I've had a good look through the T6J manual. For the price, it does seem like a pretty good radio. Very similary to the DX6i - even the menu screens, layout etc etc???

As far as I'm aware the range of the FHSS system will allow you to fly anything out of site??

Just the incompatibility with FASST would be an issue if you already owned FASST gear (but then you would already have a Tx anyway I suppose).

Starting from scratch though, could be ok.

But I don't get it why futaba is going that direction. Is fasst being dump by futaba? Fasst technology
is god damn darn good. HMMM hope it just for that radio and other cheapie.

FHSS is cheaper to produce than FASST. So, I think the reason for chosing FHSS for the T6J was simply to keep the cost down for the entry level radio. FASST not to be replaced.
