You don't have to do "super smack 3D" to tell the difference. For me it's a huge difference.
My 3D consists of a loop or roll here or there and a little inverted hovering. That's what I meant by works fine. I didn't say it was better or the same. I'm out .. sorry I said anything.

I wouldn't say I hate FB
but since I went FBL I wont being going back
there is a lot of difference between the 2 even if someone doesn't fly smack 3D
I don't fly smack
but its still a huge improvement over FB

I actually hate setting up a FBL unit
I would much rather set up a FB any day
but its worth the aggravation to set up the FBL unit
for the benefits of it

Still fly my 450SE, crazy complicated though, add a bit of wind and you start sweating like a pig

Even better get a 250SE

Had an offer for a Align 450 sport Flybar, complete kit...

Did not want to start the whole FB vs FBL debate...

Just want to perfect the fine art of mechanically setting up a heli...

IMHO, a FB 600 would more gratifying from a mechanical point of view as you can get these really slop free.

And you're gonna fly it...?

I was refering to the experience of flying fbl with rescue for some years now and then sometimes my fb 450, which makes a thrilling experience.

A big FB bird would be most awesome for sure. But the wallet will not let me... And if it gets spendy, it will not be fun anymore.

Yes I am going to fly it, just to test my reflexes... No piro compensation, no nothing, just my thumbs and the old trusty FB.

You can still get parts for these.

Even if you DO fly super smack 3D it works fine, just look at some of those old videos of Tereq from 2007, 2008 etc.

Actually, as mentioned above, there is not an actual FB or FBL frame from what I know of. Flybar heads can be had for cheap.
I will say, FB is by far my favorite to fly, I do own FBL birds but they get 1/10 the air time as my mechanically stabilized birds.

Steve
Go TEAM FLYBAR.. Lol,..

I recently gave away my blade 400. I don't hate flybar helis, but after I tasted flybarless I'll never go back. The complexity alone and extra crash costs is enough for me to stay flybarless. I prefer the way flybarless flies, and I like spending less time and money on repairs, plus it's getting harder to find the parts. I still help people with their flybar helis and it's cool to see one once in a while but it's not for me anymore.

You could always buy a flybar head for a flybarless heli.

You could find a mini prôtos airframe in the classified.
And the then ask HF members for their flybar parts, since the kits used to come with all the parts for flybar and flybarless (and pretty much everyone runs FBL now).

MSH don't make parts for flybar anymore though (still full support for the rest of the airframe for a long time though).

I guess the easiest parts wise would be to get some kind of Align 450.
I think you'll be surprised though at how less stable a FB 450 is compared to FBL.

You might want one of these, the 'Rave 450 3D';

https://www.droneshelis.com/nd-yr-k002.html

It's an expensive kit, but one of the nicest flybar 450 out there. Spares are still available from this place, I think Curtis sold his entire heli business to them.

I still have mine and it's a great heli, even if the build is a tad fiddly in places.

There is a Align box comming my way... This will be awesome...

Went for the Align over the more quality kits because I can source parts locally...

Now only if I knew how to apply for Team Flybar....

You just roll into Bedrock and order the Brontosaurus burger.

Caution - don't let the rib appetizer tip over your car!
