Default Thinking of a new motor - Regulated or No?

Hi All!

I know this question has been asked before... The search function didn't yield many results..

I've got a 600n. My OS50 is getting old and worn out, and I'm looking for more power.

I've narrowed my options down to:
OS55 non-regulated
OS55 regulated
YS60

I'd prefer to support my LHS, who can only get OS stuff... So that kind of rules out the YS.

I fly pretty hard 3D and big air. My setup currently is the OS50, Align pipe and I'm running a header tank. Should I get the regulated version of the 55? The extra $100 or so isn't a huge deal. I'm just wondering if I'd notice the difference, running the header tank and all.

Also, I'll eventually be looking for a pipe. What are people running on their 55s?

Thanks!

The 55 will make a difference compared to your 50. The regulated version provides constant fuel intake throughout the flight and no exhaust gas in the tank (a + if running sponge clunks). I found it to be more consistent overall but an additional piece to keep clean for it to work properly.

I'm running an OS 55HZ-R with a Funtech B320. I got a really good deal on a used one. If I was going to buy another one I would be really tempted to buy a YS60.

I've not had any issues with the regulator on my 55 and it's been really easy to tune. I use a Lynx MOAS fuel clunk and no header tank.

If an engine is offered regulated and not, there is no way I would ever get the unregulated version.

Thanks for the help everyone! I called my LHS and got them to order me an OS55 HZ-R (regulated).

I plan on running it with the Align pipe for now... Until I can afford something else.
