Nice canopy, I wonder how it sizes in comparison to the MCPX or NCPX.

I noticed this micro heli on tower too. The thing I am really excited about with this one is that they show a Tx-R Version too which means I could actually use my Futaba to control it! Others could use their spektrum radios or whatever other Tx they may have as long as there is a training port.
One less Tx on the shelf is a good thing. It says early Oct. Jim

I just saw this one today in person...about identical to the mCP-x in sized and seems better built. I've seen the FBL operate far better than anything I've seen in larger units. I was going to get a Blade Nano but this seems to be a well build micro helicopter. The placement of the motor on this too seems like it would be easy to turn it into a brushless unit.
Just letting HF people know about new things when I see them!

The radio is "just" about as tuneable and powerfull (from that respect) as many others.
here is the manual to the machine.. looking to see if i can find the manual to the TX.. http://manuals.hobbico.com/hmx/hmxe0820-0821-manual.pdf Grim

Wow. I wish I wouldn't have bought the Ncpx. I don't even fly it anymore and it has under 30 flights on it. I guess i need to be selling it and pick up one of these. I'm glad there's finally something that will bind to a Futaba radio (with AnyLink of course). If there is some competition, it may force HH to start making better micros and/or lower priced micros. As we learned in microeconomics class, competition drives prices down and quality up. I'll wait to see how people like this one and how well the tail holds compared to Mcpx/Ncpx before I buy, but even if it needs some improvement, this will do good things for the market and for the hobby. This isn't a rebranded Walkera frame is it? I think that's just the Novus line...
I'm beginning to doubt that HH will be the first company to offer a dual brushless out of the box micro the size of Mcpx/Ncpx. From what I've read it seems they don't think the cost would be worth it.... They might lose that business to Hobbico if they don't get one out soon. Though Hobbico is late to the party when it comes to bnf/txr micro CP helis, they could really level the playing field by kicking out a txr dual bl micro cp. I know I would guinea pig one if for nothing else but to help the cause. They'll have a tough act to beat when it comes to parts cost/availability and durability.... but there is a lot of room for improvement in the performance category for anyone besides beginners to CP. I'm really psyched about this. I look forward to some more reviews and opinions from more good pilots like Nick. |

Mines in the mail cant wait !!!
Used to fly 30/50 sized nitros 10 yrs ago....due to the pucker factor I gave up on heli's sold them all and called it quits..... Im blown away with the tech advances since ive been gone from the Heli scene. 10 years ago I had $800 into the CHEAPEST rig I could fly I saw a kid at the local hobby hole with this pissed off bumble bee looking heli and he flew this thing like curtis youngblood I was floored ......couldnt belive what I was seeing the kid hands me the radio and says go ahead.... i told em what i told you and that my skills the only consisted of basic hover and fly around like a fixed pitched style... nice and easy .... I told em ill most likely crash and he said COOL have at it so i did lol I spooled up from a counter and went straight to the floor .... the thing flopped like a fish out of water all over the floor ...I felt like a fool and went to stop but every one insisted i keep at it ..so after 10 packs and i lost count on crashes i was able to fly around in the shop. It took me 20 minutes to learn to hover and another 20 to fly in slow circuits! This baby flew for a noob and took all the abuse i gave it and all that had to be fixed was main blades and the kid adjusted the radio to calm it down with curve settings after i hovered a few packs. OMG 10 yrs ago i did 100s of hrs on a sim to advance beyond a hover on the real thing plus days of backyard hoover practice just to get the balls to try to fly around.... Needless to say I got BIT by the BUG and here we go again... Since that day last week I bought the following Axe CP 100 fbl Tarot 450 pro fbl Turnigy 9x Anylink Module ZYX Gyro Flight sim Plus chargers and batts All that for under $400 just blows my mind ......2 ships that wont kill my wallet when i crash rtf for that kinda money IM SOLD HOOK LINE and SINKER Cost is what killed my learning curve and the hobby for me 10 years ago so im glad COST is what will bring me back I'll Keep you all posted on the out the box and into the air experince once i get it Last edited by Maxus; 10-19-2012 at 11:43 AM.. Is there any radio setup info for a Futaba 10C?
This is my first Heli Max heli and my first time using the AnyLink. I setup my radio using the TJ6 settings as a starting point but I need a ton of left rudder just to hover. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks, Jim

Flew the RTF version yesterday. Needs some tweaking in radio settings out of the box for stunt mode. Seems durable. Smacked into the wall and on concrete several times and its still going.
My 3D skills leave much to be desired but based on what I can do I think the Axe is comparible to the Nano. |

Isn't this heli just a rebranded walkera genius cp? Everything in that video makes it look that way.
Also, the linear servos are the mcpx's don't strip, these definitely do.

Hhmmm ues it does appear to be the same as the Nine Eagles 125A. My bubble may have been burst. Arent nine eagles helis known for being junk? I dont mean to speak ill of them without knowing for sure, so please correct me if im wrong, but it seems what little ive read about them was bad. Maybe Hobbico put redesigned electronics on and made it great..... But how about the frame and its durability? I guess ill head over to a nine eagles forum and see what issues theyve had

My $0.02 if interested.
I've gotten about 25 flights on the little thing and I'm liking it. The motor and lipo's are now broken in and it flies and tracks well. Not enough pop to do tick-tock's but half piro flips, hurricane's, upright and inverted, flips and rolls one after the other seems not to be an issue if your managing collective, and if not she will bog down to the ground unless you back off. 8FG Super AIL & ELE: End Points: 140/110 to get it dialed in. PIT: 135/85 EXPO: -10 AIL & ELE For me the factory recommended settings flew awful. Two crazy hard crashes, one tail in and the other nose in, only thing that broke was the tail fin. I thought for sure there would have been more damage. This thing is really built well and I think you will agree if you see it in person. BTW, You hear a lot of people talk about micro's flying like larger birds, well this one really does. So, not sure if its a rebrand or not, but Experience is carrying them and Tower and both have serviced me well when issues come up. |

I order parts from Experiencerc.com all the time and noticed that they had the axe 100. Very tempting, but I think I'll at least wait until they have my other parts I need in stock so I can only have to pay shipping once.
rdavis, have you flown an Mcpx or Nano cpx to compare this to? From your description it sound like it flies similar.... durable, but have to be careful with collective or get serious bog. I really want to switch to one that I can use with my 8FG Super, but if it flies exacly like the ones I already have, maybe I should reconsider. Only because I have put myself on a limited bi-weekly allowance so I can save for a house down payment, and I have also decided to take on a 1/4 scale gasoline 3d plane and a Compass Warp 360 over the winter. rdavis, thank you for posting about your experience with the axe 100. I hope others will chime in as well. I would like to see this gain popularity so that Hobbico will see the value in putting out more TX-R aircraft, especially helis! Oh, yeah, how well does the tail hold during the aerobatics you've mentioned? |
