Default A123 on my Logo10

I recently stretched my Logo400SE to Logo 10-size.
And being tired of failing lipo's I purchased a A123 7S1P battery.
Made of A123 ANR26650M1B cells.
So instead of a 3300 mAh lipo, I now fly a 2500 mAh A123.
The max. voltage is the same: 25.2V
Nominal is now 3.3V per cell > 23.1V (7S!)

My flighttimes haven't suffered much. And I don't care. I fly sport and mild 3D about 5min 30 sec and then charge at the recommended 10 Amp. this takes only 13 to 15 min.
In the meantime I have to wait for my turn anyway.

I'm happy and if the 1000 charges come true, it's far better then any lipo.

HEY!!!!!!
OLD SCHOOL!!!!!

Very nice! My first big bird was a Century Swift 16 on 10S A123 with 550 blades.

If this works for you then all the power to yah! A123's will dump in a hurry when they hit their mim voltage.

How is the IISI working? Good?

The Iisi is working perfect.
It is spot on with the amps I use so I fly entirely on the alarm of the Iisi.
With the lipo's my average flight consumed 2100 - 2200 mAh. I kept the alarm on 2000 mAh so I have plenty of time to put the heli down.
I can recommend it. No worries about timers etc. This doesn't depend on flying style.

I flew A123's in a Protos 500 years ago. You just cannot hurt those packs and they do last nearly forever. Biggest down side is not weight and they are heavy, its that there performance is pitiful when there cold. By cold I mean anything less than 70F and they really start to run good at 100F. Used to bring an ice chest with a heating pad in it to heat them up in the winter.

Iisi is a telemetry-system: http://iisi-rc.com/IISI-RC/Home.html
The most important function is the realtime measurement of the used Amps. I also have a Rpm-unit added. For my convenience.

This 7S pack weigths almost 600g, so 100g more. Since I have stretched my heli, and thus gave it a bigger disc, I don't bother.
I can feel the extra weight in flight but it suits my flying style.

I cannot fly very regular. And I found out this was very bad for my lipo's. They didn't last very long, some of them not even 100 charges. So now I am trying A123 packs.

I have no experience with the performance in cold weather. I'll keep it in mind.

After flying about 6 pack's on the helimeeting over here, I am still happy. Average flighttime 5 min - 5 min 30 sec.
Average chargingtime 13 minutes.
So this battery is going to stay.
