Default Trex 500L Dominator weight comparison

I'm happy pilot of Align Trex 500L Dominator. In some threads the weigh issue of 500L was debating from time to time but, as this bird is quite new on the market, there were no facts based conclusions.

My machine, mostly stock with 3300mah/50C Align + Bavarian Demon 3SX + Futaba (R3008SB) RX + 3 Futaba’s telemetry sensors (GPS, RPM, temp.) is 2,13kg (4,69lbs). It is probably not the lightest 500 class heli on the sky but this weight is ok for my flight style (no advance 3d except basic loops and rolls - as befits a beginner) and the bird has enough power to climb fast and tight turns.

I am curious what is the real weight (with LiPo) of other 500L's and of course flight feelings of their pilots.

Regards,

Pawel

My EFL Pro is 1915g with 2600 Gens Ace.
Mostly standard electric, 500mx. Align servos, ESC
Vbar Full
Full size RX.

3300 is a big old battery for it. Guess that is where your extra weight it.

Thanks for reply.

It's quite difficult to conclude a direct weight comparison between 500 EFL Pro and 500L Domianator as there is significant different in frame design (500L Dominator frame is a bit wider, has down loaded - inside the frame battery tray, the motor is located on the top of it and it is supported by metal reinforcement plates, there is wider tail boom case, etc).

I do not have 500EFL Pro but I would suspect that the this helicopter without any electronic is abt. 100-150g lighter than 500L Dominator...

You are absolutely right, my battery is probably another 100g or more heavier than yours.

500L Dominator:
1533g without battery (Futaba R6303SB Rx, stock electronics, XT90 plugs)
+540g GensAce 3300/25C = 2073g
or
+610g Roxxy 3600/30C = 2143g

Thanks WNO158. Just to be precise my bird without battery with all electronics described in my first post is 1574g. The Align 3300/50C battery = 555g (including CF mount plate). All together 2129g.

Just checked my 500 EFL Pro. Without lipo 1498. That's everything but lipo ready to fly including canopy.
I have full size Vbar and full DMSS RX so will be on the fat side. All other electronics standard that came with the kit.

Interesting the new models are all coming out heavy. Would think they would find ways to make them lighter over time not heavier. I think the 500 is on the heavy side as it is.

The ESP is nearly 100g lighter again.

Maybe some difference in the motors?
My 500 mx is apparently 197g
The 500mx red I assume the dominator has is also listed at 197g
Nope

What are you running in the ESP ?

Maybe just the wider frame has acquired more weight? Heavier servos ? Would love to trim 100g off it. Maybe the belt drive save a fair amount as well.

Cheers
