I was happy with the stock Align ds520 servo on a 500esp so I still keep it just in case. Now I am using a MKS 8910A+, a truly amazing servo!

Also consider the bk ds7005. It is a full size servo with mini case adapting option.

...or the KST bls505x (brushless) and KST ds565x (coreless) tail servos.

I did have to take a sanding drum on the dremel to open the mount slightly to clear the motor on the servo. It was very little and looks like it was put there from the factory.

I remember when I was searching for a servo, comparing specs and came to the same conclusion. They are great servos. I did have to remove the boom mount also to install as it would not go between the frames while together

Whenever you find two (or more) different brand products with the same specs its 100% sure they are China made.

Mks hv9780 fits with zero mod and is great. The mks 8910a+ is also a fantastic servo.

Default Tail servo...

I looked at the KST. With running that at 8.4v won't you need the cyclic servos capable of running 8.4v also? Im trying to change out my tail servo with something decent but I really don't want to spend 100$ or near that. I saw RJX FS0391T compared to the BK. About the same price. I read some other servos that are cheaper but the Tq and Speed are slower then the align tail servo on the 500L so I don't know why someone would do that...

To get a faster acting higher torque servo you will pay more.

Any of the options in this thread will provide better than stock performance.

Just ensure what u get does perform better otherwise your not doing yourself.any favours.

Also if you do go full size servo pick one that needs zero or minimal mods.

I managed to install mine without taking boom mount off, what I did was mount the two parts separately, outer case to frame, then screwed in top plate.from the other side.

Default so..

I could install a 7005 without the adapter? I read somewhere the only reason for putting the servo in two parts was due to the wiring not passing through the frame. id really rather not have to buy a adapter, for one its 15$ also I don't see any in stock, or if they are its over seas...

The frame opening in the 500l is a mini servo opening. A full size servo will not fit this without significant mod.

The rjx and the bk are full size but offer you a top cover mini servo option. You simply unscrew full size cover plate and screw on min servo cover plate

You don't add the adapter to the full size cover it's.one or the other.

I only mounted as two pieces as it was hard to push the servo into place through the lower compartment as the tail servo mounts from inside not outside frame.

I'll post a pic.when I get,home later today to help.
