not sure. I know they were working on a new tail servo, so not sure if they are just out of stock. Or if they ran the old inventory out before getting new tail servos in stock, for the new series.
btw the new tail is good, but the new cyclic BLS servos are SICK!!!! |

not sure, I think the new tail has more torque, although the older one was among best in tails for torque as far as I know. Lol, name would imply it ahha!

As far as I know there are no gear replacements for the servos, and I have no idea what you would have to do if you do need to replace a gear. Luckily no one has managed to break a gear, I have a feeling Outrage is going to worry about the problem when someone actually strips one.

lol, I don't mean to poke fun of the question,b/c it's a legit question about the gears. I laugh b/c I saw Eric Brandenburg put one of his Velocity 50's in at the Cincy funfly so hard, that it BROKE the headblock. The mainshaft ripped/split the headblock into 2 pieces as the jesus bolt tore through it. If THAT crash didn't strip a servo gear, I don't know how you would.
Now conversly, I will say this. I made the mistake of using metal servo horns on my first velocity build on Futaba BLS451 servos(awesome servos btw). I had a bad crash and it did break one of the servo gears, the bigger output gear, off the takeoff gear that counters. One of the big teeth chipped on that. So back to the point, as long as you used the plastic futaba type horns I don't think you will strip a strong metal gear servo like these. Could be a good topic for another PhD dissertation for HFG though Course he doesn't crash enough to get anywhere near enough data. Maybe I'd have to get him sample sets of my crashes. I could probably give him enough for 2-3 projects eheh! |

That's the only reason holding me back. I have to choose between a BLS251 or the BL9088 Torq, which I like beter but there are no replacement gears, so if you strip it you will have to buy a new one $$$

Nah I know at the very worst you can send them back and be fixed, hopefully when the new 91xx series comes out they will offer gear replacements.

Any news on when they are available? I think they are gonna be overkill on the 550 and a lot more expensive.

No such thing as overkill on a tails servo.

For the life of me, I cannot fathom a scenario by which the the gears are stripped, unless the servo case is destroyed. I am sure David Letterman could drop the Torq off his Radio City Music Hall building roof, and crush with a brick, but that's not apt to happen to YOURS. How could you damage gears in a rudder servo with a fairly flimsy control rod which will buckle at less than stall torque.
